Role & responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

- Lead engineering operations and delivery across multiple teams or pods.
- Manage and mentor Engineering Leads and support team development.
- Establish predictable delivery timelines, resource planning, and execution processes.
- Partner with Product and Leadership on priorities, scope, and technical trade-offs.
- Identify delivery risks early and ensure timely resolution.

Technical Architecture & Code Quality

- Define and maintain engineering standards, architecture guidelines, and quality gates.
- Review critical technical designs and code paths.
- Improve development processes, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Strengthen QA and testing practices across engineering teams.

Platform Reliability & Scalability

- Drive platform stability, performance, uptime, and incident response.
- Guide scalable and resilient backend and infrastructure architecture.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability.
- Oversee engineering practices related to email deliverability, warmups, throttling, retries, and bounce handling.
- Lead incident reviews and implement measures to prevent recurring issues.

Team Building & People Development

- Develop engineering hiring plans and skills roadmaps.
- Coach Engineering Leads and support the growth of engineering talent.




- Conduct regular 1:1s and facilitate technical and professional development.
- Build effective team structures as the organization scales.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Act as the primary engineering point of contact for Product, Support, CS, and Leadership.
- Coordinate customer issue triage and ensure timely engineering resolution.
- Communicate technical decisions, timelines, and delivery updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure engineering priorities align with business and customer needs.

Preferred candidate profile:

- 10-12 years of software engineering experience.
- 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams or organizations end-to-end.
- Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams or pods.
- Strong background in backend systems, infrastructure, and production reliability.
- Experience with AWS, REST/GraphQL APIs, and SQL-based systems.
- Knowledge of system architecture, scalability, performance, and observability.
- Experience improving QA/testing practices and code quality standards.
- Strong understanding of incident management and production operations.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing technical leads.
- Robust communication, ownership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to remain hands-on with critical technical challenges, code reviews, and prototyping when required.
