Hardware & Networking Engineer

Job Summary The Hardware & Networking Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, networking systems, printers, and other IT infrastructure. The role involves ensuring the smooth functioning of IT services, maintaining LAN/WAN networks, providing technical support to end users, and monitoring system performance and security.

Key Responsibilities

1. Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, and other IT equipment.
2. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, system, and network-related issues.
3. Perform regular preventive maintenance, system upgrades, patch updates, and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability.
4. Configure and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and other network infrastructure.
5. Provide timely technical support to end users for hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues.
6. Manage user accounts, email configurations, access permissions, and IT security policies.
7. Monitor network and system performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend suitable improvements.
8. Ensure proper implementation and maintenance of data backup, recovery, antivirus, and security systems.
9. Maintain accurate IT documentation, including asset inventories, network diagrams, configuration records, and maintenance logs.

Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment repairs, warranty claims, AMC services, and technical support.
11. Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and organizational procedures.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of computer hardware components, installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Sound understanding of LAN/WAN networking concepts, VLAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, modems, access points, and firewalls.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems; Linux knowledge will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, server management, Microsoft Office 365, and cloud services.
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Good analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple technical issues.
- Good coordination and customer-service skills.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or MCSE will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 1–2 years of relevant experience in hardware, networking, system administration, or IT support.
- Freshers may also be considered depending on the role level and technical knowledge.
