Role & responsibilities
General Ledger & Accounting
- Manage day-to-day General Ledger accounting and ensure accurate accounting of financial transactions.
- Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, expenses, and other GL transactions.
- Ensure proper accounting under applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform regular GL scrutiny and account reconciliations.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual balances.
- Ensure timely closure of open accounting issues.
Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Drive and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and review month-end provisions, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other closing entries.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting entries before closing the books.
- Prepare month-end closing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with various departments to obtain information required for timely closure.
- Ensure adherence to the company's financial closing calendar and timelines.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements and financial reporting schedules.
- Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting reconciliations.
- Analyze major movements and variances in GL accounts.
- Provide financial information and reports to management as required.
- Support preparation of management reporting and MIS.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data reported to management.
GST, TDS & Statutory Compliance
- Support and coordinate accounting-related activities for GST compliance.
- Ensure appropriate accounting and reconciliation of GST-related transactions.
- Handle accounting and reconciliation related to TDS.
- Coordinate with the tax/compliance team for statutory requirements.
- Review relevant statutory ledgers and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Support preparation of information and schedules required for statutory compliance.
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors.
- Provide audit schedules, supporting documents, reconciliations,
and other information requested by auditors.
- Address audit queries and coordinate with relevant departments for closure of audit observations.
- Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Support implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable regulations.
Manufacturing Accounting
- Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing accounting processes.
- Review accounting related to raw materials, WIP, finished goods, consumables, stores, and other manufacturing inventories.
- Coordinate with Costing, Production, Stores, Purchase, and Finance teams for accurate accounting.
- Support inventory reconciliation and accounting activities.
- Review manufacturing-related expenses and their appropriate accounting treatment.
Standard Costing & Variance Analysis
- Work in coordination with the Costing team in a standard costing environment.
- Understand and review standard vs. actual cost variances.
- Support analysis of material, labour, overhead, and other manufacturing cost variances.
- Assist in accounting and reporting of manufacturing cost-related adjustments.
- Provide financial accounting inputs for cost and profitability analysis.
Reconciliation & Internal Controls
- Perform balance sheet and GL account reconciliations on a periodic basis.
- Ensure timely clearance of outstanding and aged reconciling items.
- Monitor intercompany and related-party balances, wherever applicable.
- Strengthen accounting controls and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for financial transactions.
Preferred candidate profile Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong practical knowledge of General Ledger Accounting.
- Hands-on experience in Month-End and Year-End Closing.
- Good understanding of Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.
- Working knowledge of GST and TDS.
- Experience in handling Internal and Statutory Audits.
- Understanding of manufacturing accounting and inventory accounting.
- Exposure to a Standard Costing environment.
- Understanding of Standard vs. Actual Cost and Variance Analysis will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good command of MS Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP/Oracle/Dynamics or other manufacturing ERP will be preferred.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
Educational Qualification
- CA / CMA preferred.
- MBA (Finance) / M.Com / B.Com or equivalent qualification with relevant experience may also be considered.
- Candidates with robust hands-on manufacturing accounting experience will be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts / GL Accounting.
- Experience in an MNC manufacturing organization will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in the automotive manufacturing industry will have an added advantage.
- Hands-on exposure to month-end closing, financial reporting, GST/TDS, audit, and manufacturing accounting is preferred.
