Role Summary

As a GCP Application Modernization Architect you will be responsible for designing & architecting solutions which focuses on transforming legacy, monolithic, and VM‑based applications into cloud‑native, scalable, and resilient architectures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Design

- Solution Design: Architect Application Modernization solutions (GKE, Cloud Run, Apigee) integrated with Agentic Workflows.
- Cloud-Native Transformation: Architect the "landing zones" for up-to-date apps using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Cloud Run.
- Microservices & API Management: Design secure, scalable API layers using Apigee to allow AI agents to interact with legacy "Systems of Record" (SAP, Mainframes, SQL).
- DevSecOps & Platform Engineering: Define CI/CD pipelines that incorporate LLMOps for continuous testing and deployment of agentic components.
- Multi-Agent Orchestration: Design architectures where multiple specialized agents collaborate using frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, or Vertex AI Agent Builder.
- Reasoning & Action (ReAct): Design solutions which involve implementing "Reasoning Engines" that allow applications to perceive state, plan steps, and take actions via Function Calling.
- Grounding & RAG: Architect sophisticated Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using Vertex AI Search and Vector Search (on Spanner or BigQuery) to ensure agent accuracy.
- Human-in-the-Loop (HITL):



Design governance checkpoints where autonomous agents pause for human approval during critical business transactions.

1. Leadership & Collaboration

- Discovery Workshops: Facilitate "Design Thinking" sessions to identify high-ROI use cases for AI Agents within existing business processes.
- Lead legacy application assessment and define modernization strategies (rehost, re-platform, refactor, re‑architect etc.).
- Proposal Leadership: Own the technical response for RFPs/RFIs, focusing on TCO reduction through automation and revenue growth through AI-driven capabilities.

1. Technical Skills & Expertise

- Deep expertise in GCP application and compute services (GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, App Engine, GKE Enterprise, Apigee, Cloud Spanner, BQ)
- Strong background in microservices, APIs, container platforms, Kubernetes, ADK, Vertex AI Agent Builder
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC (Terraform)
- Understanding of cloud Infra, security, networking, and observability

1. Consulting & Commercial Skills

- Ability to articulate business value of Application modernization
- Experience with estimation, cost modelling, and value‑based solutioning
- Strong communication skills for technical and executive stakeholders

Required Experience & Skills

Experience

- 10+ years in application architecture or software engineering, with 5+ years on cloud platforms
- Proven experience leading application modernization or cloud transformation initiatives
- Strong exposure to client‑facing architecture or pre‑sales solutioning roles

Certifications (Preferred)

- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), DevOps or equivalent
