HummingBird is hiring on behalf of its client , a leading global pharmaceutical company, for a senior leadership position to lead its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad.

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Head – Global Capability Center (GCC) to provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization's Hyderabad GCC.

The role will be responsible for building and scaling the center into a high-performing strategic capability hub , supporting global business functions while driving innovation, operational excellence, digital transformation, and access to specialized talent.

The GCC Head will work closely with global executive leadership, business leaders, technology teams, HR, Finance, Operations, and other corporate functions to establish the center's strategy, operating model, talent agenda, and long-term growth roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

GCC Strategy & Leadership

- Define and execute the GCC vision, strategy, and multi-year growth roadmap in alignment with global business objectives.
- Establish the Hyderabad GCC as a strategic partner to global business and functional leadership.
- Develop the GCC operating model, organizational structure, governance framework, and performance management mechanisms.
- Build scalable capabilities to support evolving global business requirements.
- Serve as the primary leadership interface between the GCC and global executive stakeholders.

GCC Build & Scale

- Lead the setup, expansion, and transformation of the Hyderabad capability center.
- Develop strategies for scaling teams, capabilities, infrastructure, and operations.
- Identify opportunities to transition appropriate global processes and capabilities into the GCC.
- Build centers of excellence across technology, analytics, finance, R&D; support, commercial operations, or other relevant functions.
- Establish robust operating processes, governance, and service-delivery standards.

Talent & Organization





- Develop and execute the GCC talent strategy in partnership with HR and global leadership.
- Build a strong leadership team and high-performing workforce.
- Attract and retain specialized talent across technology, digital, data, analytics, R&D;, business operations, and other critical functions.
- Establish succession planning, leadership development, career frameworks, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Build a differentiated employer proposition for the Hyderabad talent market.

Digital Transformation & Innovation

- Drive adoption of digital technologies, AI, automation, advanced analytics, and emerging capabilities across GCC operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, operational efficiency, and business outcomes through technology.
- Establish innovation programs and Centers of Excellence aligned with global priorities.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and technology-led transformation.

Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences Operations

- Develop capabilities aligned with the specific needs of a global pharmaceutical organization .
- Support global functions such as R&D;, clinical operations, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs, commercial operations, supply chain, finance, HR, technology, and data & analytics, as applicable.
- Ensure operations align with applicable quality, compliance, data privacy, information security, and regulatory requirements .
- Partner with global teams to establish appropriate governance and risk-management frameworks.

Financial & Operational Management

- Own GCC operating budgets, resource planning, and financial performance.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to measure productivity, quality, cost efficiency, service delivery, talent health, and business impact .
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost efficiencies without compromising quality or compliance.
- Build business cases for investments in talent, technology, infrastructure, and capabilities.

Stakeholder Management

- Develop robust relationships with global executives and functional leaders.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, Procurement, Legal, Compliance, and Business Operations.




- Represent the GCC in strategic leadership forums.
- Manage relationships with external partners, ecosystem providers, technology vendors, and relevant industry stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Technology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline .
- MBA or advanced qualification preferred.
- 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience , preferably within global organizations.
- Proven experience establishing, scaling, transforming, or leading a Global Capability Center, Global Delivery Center, Shared Services organization, or similar enterprise operation .
- Experience working with global pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated organizations is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of GCC operating models, talent strategy, governance, financial management, and transformation.
- Experience working with senior global stakeholders and executive leadership.

Preferred Experience

- Experience setting up a GCC from greenfield or early-stage operations .
- Experience scaling an existing GCC into a strategic global capability hub.
- Exposure to AI, digital transformation, data & analytics, automation, and technology modernization .
- Experience managing multi-function teams across technology and business operations.
- Strong understanding of Hyderabad's talent ecosystem and the broader Indian GCC landscape.
- Experience in pharmaceutical R&D;, clinical, regulatory, commercial, supply chain, or corporate functions is an advantage.
