FREELANCE SCRIPTWRITER - SHORT-FORM COMEDY SERIES - English

Location: Remote | Delhi candidates preferred

Contract: Freelance / Project-Based

Start Date: October 2026

We are seeking an experienced Short-Form Comedy Scriptwriter to join the development of a 100-episode digital series, with episodes approximately 30–60 seconds in length in English.

The series is character-led, with recurring characters and an established creative direction. We are looking for a writer who understands how to create highly engaging short-form content that captures attention immediately and keeps viewers watching through to the end.

Key Responsibilities

- Write 30–60 second scripts across a 100-episode series
- Develop scripts from provided concepts, situations and creative direction
- Create strong hooks within the opening seconds to capture attention
- Build engaging scenes with transparent pacing, progression and a strong comedic payoff
- Write natural, memorable dialogue and character-driven humour
- Maintain consistency in character voice, personality and tone
- Understand what drives audience retention, engagement and sharing
- Work collaboratively through feedback and revisions
- Deliver scripts according to agreed batch deadlines
- Where required, attend filming in Delhi to observe production, support the team and make any necessary last-minute script adjustments

Experience &

Skills

- Demonstrable experience writing short-form comedy content
- Experience writing for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of hooks, audience retention, pacing and engagement




- Excellent dialogue and character-writing skills
- Strong comedic timing and ability to deliver a payoff within a short runtime
- Ability to turn a simple situation into an entertaining and highly watchable piece of content
- Excellent organisation and ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Understanding of Indian and/or Indian diaspora humour is desirable

Location & Production The role is primarily remote; however, Delhi-based candidates are preferred as filming will take place in Delhi.

The successful candidate may occasionally be required to attend set during production to observe how the scripts translate on camera, support the production team and make any necessary last-minute script adjustments.

Project Timeline Commencement: October 2026

Full project: 100 scripts finalised by late November 2026

Project Fee This is a project-based engagement. A fixed project fee will be agreed based on experience, portfolio and scope, rather than a per-script rate.

Payment will be made in agreed project stages.
