We are looking for a

Scientific Research Networking Associate to support advanced research computing, networking, storage, and Kubernetes infrastructure for scientific computing environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and support

Linux/Unix-based computing clusters

, including OS/software installation, updates, monitoring, security, and troubleshooting.

- Maintain

Kubernetes clusters and storage infrastructure

.

- Configure, test, and troubleshoot

TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, BGP, and OSPF

.

- Analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve scalability and resilience.

- Work with tools such as iperf3, tcpdump, Wireshark, netcat, and perfSONAR

.

- Support

Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

and container networking environments.

- Implement networking automation and simulation environments.

- Work with

Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Proxmox

, and virtualization technologies.

- Use

Python and shell scripting for automation and infrastructure management.

- Support network monitoring using

Grafana and Prometheus

.

- Collaborate with research, infrastructure, security, and networking teams across institutions.

- Contribute to technical documentation, infrastructure development,



and research networking initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, IT, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

- Robust understanding of

TCP/IP, OSI layers, networking protocols, routing, and switching

.

- Hands-on experience with

BGP and OSPF

.

- Strong Linux/Unix administration experience.

- Experience managing large-scale computing, networking, or storage infrastructure

.

- Knowledge of

SDN and container networking

.

- Experience with

Kubernetes and Docker

.

- Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting and packet-analysis tools.

- Knowledge of

GitHub/GitLab

.

- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with

Arista, Cisco, Dell, P4, or SONiC

.

- Experience with

Ansible and Proxmox

.

- Knowledge of network/storage virtualization.

- Experience with

Grafana and Prometheus

.

- Python and shell scripting.

- Production network operations experience.

- Experience with research/HPC networking environments and wide-area network performance.
