Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Freelance Podcast Editor.

The Podcast

Editor will be responsible for editing raw audio recordings into polished, engaging episodes, including cleaning up sound, arranging segments, and adding intros, outros, and transitions. Day-to-day tasks include cutting unwanted sections, balancing levels, applying noise reduction, and ensuring consistent audio quality across episodes. The role also involves collaborating with producers or hosts on episode structure, aligning edits with brand voice and marketing goals, and preparing final files and show notes for publishing on podcast platforms. The editor may be asked to suggest improvements to format, pacing,



and listener experience based on best practices and performance feedback.

Qualifications

- Strong audio editing skills using professional tools (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, Reaper, Pro Tools, or similar) and experience with multitrack editing.
- Sound engineering fundamentals, including noise reduction, EQ, compression, volume normalization, and mastering for podcast platforms.
- Experience structuring narrative or interview-style audio content, with an ear for pacing, clarity, and listener engagement.
- Familiarity with podcast publishing workflows, file formats, metadata, and basic knowledge of hosting platforms and RSS feeds.
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and collaborate with marketing, content, or production teams to align episodes with campaign goals.
- Strong time management skills and reliability in meeting deadlines in a remote, contract-based environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control, including catching audio glitches, content inconsistencies, and factual errors.
- Previous experience editing podcasts or long-form audio content; portfolio or sample work demonstrating editing style and quality.
- Comfort with feedback and iterative revisions, with explicit and professional communication in written and verbal form.
- Helpful but not required: familiarity with content marketing, SEO-aware show notes writing, and basic analytics for podcast performance.
