Fluid Mechanics & CFD Design Engineer
Location: New Delhi, India
Type: Full time
About NITS Engineering
NITS Engineering is a biomedical technology company building the next generation of biomedical devices, in vitro disease models, and engineering systems for drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and diagnostics. We combine precision hardware engineering with biomedical research to build the tools that take science from the lab bench to real world application.
About the Role
We are looking for a Fluid Mechanics & CFD Design Engineer to work directly on the development of fluidic, mixing, and thermal systems for our biomedical technology platforms. You will work on problems ranging from active mixing of high-viscosity materials and novel impeller design to microfluidics, temperature control, and 3D-printed fluidic systems.
This is a hands-on R&D; role spanning fluid mechanics, CFD, CAD, prototyping, manufacturing, and experimental validation. You will be expected to take designs from an engineering concept through simulation and fabrication to testing, and use what you learn experimentally to improve the design.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop impellers, active mixing systems, fluidic components, microfluidic channels, and thermal-control systems for high-viscosity materials.
- Develop CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or equivalent.
- Perform CFD simulations to analyse and optimize flow, mixing, pressure drop, shear, heat transfer, and temperature distribution.
- Model high-viscosity and non-Newtonian fluids and investigate how material properties and operating conditions affect system performance.
- Use FEA/FEM where appropriate to validate structural and thermo-mechanical performance.
- Prototype and manufacture designs using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other fabrication methods.
- Design and conduct experiments to characterize fluid, mixing, and thermal performance.
- Compare simulation predictions with experimental results, identify discrepancies, and iterate the design.
- Work directly with manufacturing and multidisciplinary teams to turn designs into functional hardware.
- Troubleshoot unexpected results and identify the underlying physical, design, or manufacturing causes.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline .
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in fluid mechanics, CFD, mechanical design, R&D;, or hardware development.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
- Practical experience with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+, or equivalent.
- Working proficiency in CAD and mechanical design.
- Working knowledge of FEA/FEM.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience taking a design through simulation, prototyping/manufacturing, and testing .
- Strong problem-solving ability and an experimental mindset.
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and turn engineering ideas into working physical systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience with high-viscosity or non-Newtonian fluids.
- Experience designing impellers, mixers, pumps, or other fluid-handling systems.
- Experience with microfluidics or lab-on-chip systems.
- Experience with thermal management or heat-transfer systems.
- Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, or other fabrication methods.
- Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for engineering calculations and data analysis.
- Research publications, prototypes, patents, or independent engineering projects demonstrating novel design work.
Why Join
- Work on challenging problems at the intersection of fluid mechanics, advanced manufacturing, and biomedical technology .
- Own engineering problems from concept through simulation, fabrication, and experimental validation .
- Access to in-house rapid prototyping facilities, 3D printers, and fabrication tools.
- Freedom to experiment, test unconventional ideas, and develop new engineering approaches.
- Work closely with engineers and researchers across mechanical, biomedical, and other disciplines.
- A fast-moving startup environment with a steep learning curve and the prospect to grow into a technical leadership role.
If you enjoy understanding how things work, building them, discovering why they did not work as expected, and trying again, this is the kind of engineering role where you can make a real impact.
How to Apply
Applicants who do not fully meet every point above but show strong potential and genuine hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
- Pre-selection is conducted by our recruiters directly, not by artificial intelligence.
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for next steps.
To apply, please fill out the application form and include links to any past engineering projects, prototypes, publications, or portfolios demonstrating your design, simulation, manufacturing, or experimental experience.
