Finance Manager vs CA

Finance Manager owns

Day-to-day books, reconciliations, GST/TDS workings, compliance calendar, data accuracy, documentation, MIS, cash management, payroll coordination, vendor/customer reconciliation and ensuring filings actually happen.

CA / Tax Advisor owns:

Tax interpretation, complex GST/income-tax matters, review of filings, tax planning, audits, assessments, notices and representation before authorities where required.

The Finance Manager cannot simply say, “the CA handles GST.” The Finance Manager remains internally accountable for making sure the correct information reaches the CA and every payment/return is completed on time.

Ideal Candidate

- CA Inter / CMA Inter / MBA Finance / M.Com / equivalent strong finance background.
- Approximately 4–8 years of finance and accounting experience.
- Experience working in a startup, services business, marketplace or high-volume transactional business preferred.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of GST, TDS, accounting and reconciliations.
- Comfortable working with Tally/Zoho Books or similar accounting systems and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
- Able to independently coordinate with CAs, auditors, banks, vendors and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to investigate discrepancies rather than simply record transactions.
- Comfortable in a fast-growing environment where processes are still being built.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 90 days, the Finance Manager should give the founders confidence that:

- Every statutory filing and tax payment is tracked and completed on time.
- The books accurately reflect the business.
- The company knows exactly how much cash it has and what cash it will need.
- GST input credit and tax leakage are actively controlled.
- Vendor and customer balances are reconciled.
- Management receives reliable monthly financial reporting.
- Finance issues are identified before they become founder-level emergencies.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
