About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to manage accounting and financial operations for our Canadian higher-education and associated business entities.

The role will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, audit coordination, revenue and receivables management, and team leadership.

The ideal candidate should have strong exposure to international accounting, Canadian accounting practices, IFRS/Canada GAAP, QuickBooks, MIS reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

The role requires close collaboration with Sales, Operations, Marketing, IT, institutional stakeholders, vendors, students, and senior Finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Operations

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely maintenance of books of accounts.
- Manage accounting activities across Canadian higher-education entities and associated group companies.
- Review appropriate booking and classification of income and expenses in QuickBooks.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition and classification of deferred revenue.
- Monitor timely invoicing and accounting of revenues.
- Review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
- Ensure refunds, commissions, incentives, petty cash and other financial trackers are updated accurately and on time.
- Review credit card statements and ensure expenses are appropriately approved and within budget.
- Review and finalize monthly books of accounts before submission to the Controller and CFO.

1. MIS & Financial Reporting

- Prepare and present accurate weekly and monthly MIS reports.
- Prepare Actual vs. Budget analysis for revenue, enrollment, expenses and profitability.
- Prepare entity-wise financial analysis and management reports.
- Monitor enrollment/deposit status and financial performance across entities.
- Track lead-generation costs, conversion costs and associated financial metrics.
- Prepare month-end review reports and highlight key variances and financial insights to management.

1. Budgeting & Forecasting

- Lead annual budgeting exercises in collaboration with Sales and other business teams.
- Translate annual budgets into monthly and periodic targets.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify significant variances.
- Prepare rolling forecasts based on actual business performance.




- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to align revenue targets, lead-generation budgets and business expenditure.
- Ensure expenses remain within approved budgets and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

1. Revenue & Receivables Management

- Ensure correct classification of revenue and deferred revenue.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Ensure bad debts are appropriately identified and recorded.
- Review student-related receivables and support timely collections.
- Monitor revenue realization against business targets.
- Work with Sales and Operations teams to improve revenue visibility and collection efficiency.

1. Audit & Statutory Compliance

- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial information required for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IFRS / Canadian accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Support financial submissions required for institutional licensing, certification and regulatory renewals.
- Review audit observations and ensure corrective actions are implemented within agreed timelines.
- Ensure timely completion of recurring financial and statutory compliances while avoiding penalties and interest.

1. Process Improvement & Financial Controls

- Review existing Finance policies, processes and SOPs and recommend improvements.
- Drive standardization across accounting and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency.
- Strengthen financial controls and ensure adherence to approved processes.
- Ensure consistent and accurate accounting practices across entities.

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Brand & Marketing, IT and other functions on financial and business matters.
- Participate in regular cross-functional meetings to review business performance, budgets, revenue and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with Canadian teams, institutions, vendors, third parties and other stakeholders.
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions.

1. Team Management & Development

- Lead and manage the accounting team responsible for respective entities.
- Set clear goals, KPIs and performance expectations for team members.




- Delegate responsibilities with defined timelines and ensure timely completion.
- Monitor team performance and resolve operational issues.
- Provide coaching, training and guidance to team members.
- Identify training and development requirements within the Finance team.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable and performance-oriented work environment.

Key Performance Areas (KRA)
- Financial Reporting: Accurate and timely weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting.
- Book Closure: Timely and accurate month-end closure and maintenance of books.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Effective budget preparation, monitoring and variance analysis.
- Revenue Management: Accurate revenue recognition, deferred revenue management and receivables monitoring.
- Audit & Compliance: Timely completion of audits and statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Cost Management: Effective monitoring and control of business expenses against approved budgets.
- Process Improvement: Standardization, control strengthening and process automation.
- Team Leadership: Effective management, coaching and development of the accounting team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong coordination with Sales, Operations, Marketing, IT and other stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably with significant exposure to international accounting.
- CA / CPA qualification preferred.
- Robust understanding of Canadian accounting practices and IFRS / Canada GAAP.
- Experience managing accounting operations for multiple entities.
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, MIS and variance analysis.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, AP, AR and month-end closing.
- Experience handling statutory audits and regulatory compliance.
- Strong financial analysis and management reporting skills.
- Experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with international teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a CA/CPA or equivalent finance professional with strong international accounting exposure, preferably in a Canadian or North American business environment. The candidate should be comfortable managing multiple entities, leading a finance team, reviewing financial statements, driving budgets and forecasts, and working directly with senior Finance and business stakeholders.
