FINANCE HEAD / SENIOR FINANCE MANAGER – CA

Experience: 8+ Years | Preference for candidates with robust experience in the Event / Hospitality / Service / Project-based industry
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Finance Head / Senior Finance Manager – CA who can take complete ownership of the company's finance function and act as a strategic financial partner to the management.
The ideal candidate should not be limited to bookkeeping, accounting, taxation, or compliance. The candidate must have a robust understanding of how a business operates financially, including revenue generation, profitability, cash-flow management, cost control, project-wise financial performance, fund utilization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
The candidate will work closely with the management to identify opportunities to increase turnover, improve profitability, control unnecessary expenditure, optimize working capital, and ensure better utilization of company resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Business Planning
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's business objectives.
- Understand the company's complete business model, revenue streams, project costing, margins, and profitability.
- Work closely with the management to develop strategies for revenue growth and profitability improvement.
- Provide management with financial insights and recommendations for business decisions.
- Participate in annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial goal setting.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, MIS and financial projections.
- Analyse monthly and annual financial performance against budgets and targets.
- Prepare project-wise, department-wise and business-unit-wise profitability analysis.
- Identify revenue leakage, unnecessary expenses, cost overruns and margin erosion.
- Develop financial dashboards and reports for management review.
- Provide data-driven insights to support management decisions.
3. Revenue & Business Growth Analysis
- Analyse existing revenue streams and identify opportunities for additional revenue.
- Work with the management and business development team to understand sales pipelines and future revenue.
- Analyse customer profitability and project contribution margins.
- Evaluate the financial viability of new projects, clients and business opportunities.
- Support management in pricing and commercial decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to increase turnover while maintaining healthy margins.
4. Accounting & Financial Control
- Supervise complete accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely books of accounts.
- Ensure proper accounting of revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities and provisions.
- Establish strong internal financial controls and approval mechanisms.
- Review monthly closing and financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Monitor accounting processes and guide the finance/accounts team.
5. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, Professional Tax and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants and other professional advisors.
- Review tax computations, returns and assessments.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance records.
- Identify legitimate opportunities for tax planning and financial efficiency.
6. Audit & Risk Management
- Manage statutory, internal and financial audits.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.
- Identify financial and operational risks and establish appropriate controls.
- Develop processes to minimize fraud, financial leakage and unauthorized expenditure.
- Review financial policies and strengthen internal controls.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and manage the Finance & Accounts team.
- Define responsibilities, targets and processes for the finance team.
- Review team performance and ensure timely completion of finance activities.
- Train and mentor team members on accounting, financial controls and reporting.
- Coordinate effectively with HR, Operations, Sales, Production, Procurement and Management.
8. Management Reporting
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Directors / Management.
- Provide clear insights into:
- Revenue
- Gross margin
- Net profitability
- Cash flow
- Outstanding receivables
- Payables
- Project profitability
- Cost overruns
- Budget vs. actual performance
- Financial risks
- Highlight key financial issues and recommend corrective actions.
Required Skills & Competencies
- CA or MBA Finance qualification is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, taxation and financial management.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Excellent understanding of P&L;, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills.
- Excellent knowledge of budgeting and cost control.
- Strong working-capital management experience.
- Project-wise costing and profitability analysis.
- Solid leadership and decision-making skills.
- Advanced Excel and MIS reporting skills.
- Experience with accounting/ERP software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work directly with senior management / Directors.
- Ability to understand business operations beyond the Finance & Accounts department.
Preferred Candidate Profile We are looking for a Business-oriented CA or MBA Finance, not only an accounting professional.
The candidate should have experience in a Finance Head / Senior Finance Manager / Financial Controller / similar leadership position and should be capable of managing the complete finance function while simultaneously contributing to the company's growth, profitability, cost optimization and strategic financial planning.
