About the Role:

NMT Automation is looking for an experienced Factory Discipline & Operations Excellence Consultant from the automotive/manufacturing sector to strengthen shop-floor discipline, operational practices and adherence to defined systems and SOPs.

The person will bring robust automotive factory culture and shop-floor discipline into the organization and work closely with managers, supervisors and employees to build a culture of process adherence, accountability, ethics, safety, quality and operational excellence .

This is a hands-on shop-floor role for someone who has practical experience managing manufacturing environments and can lead behavioral and operational change through presence, coaching and example.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shop-Floor Discipline & Governance

- Drive professional factory discipline and adherence to established shop-floor practices.
- Monitor daily shop-floor practices, employee discipline, housekeeping and workplace behavior.
- Work with managers and supervisors to establish explicit accountability for people, processes and productivity.
- Identify gaps in discipline and operational practices and ensure timely corrective action.
- Bring automotive industry standards and manufacturing discipline into the organization.

2. SOP & Process Adherence

- Drive strict adherence to SOPs, work instructions, quality standards and defined processes.
- Conduct regular shop-floor audits to identify deviations and non-compliance.
- Coach employees and managers on the “why” behind SOP adherence , rather than relying only on enforcement.
- Establish mechanisms for tracking recurring deviations and ensuring closure.

3. Employee Training & Capability Building

- Design and conduct practical training programmes for shop-floor employees and managers.
- Train employees on:
- SOP adherence
- Workplace discipline
- Quality consciousness
- Safety practices
- 5S / housekeeping
- Accountability and ownership
- Qualified workplace behavior
- Ethical conduct




- Escalation and reporting protocols
- Coach managers and supervisors on effective people management and shop-floor leadership.

4. Factory Culture & Behavior

- Help build a culture of discipline, ownership, integrity and respect .
- Identify behavioral patterns that impact productivity, quality, safety or employee morale.
- Work with leadership to reinforce expected behaviors consistently across levels.
- Act as a role model for professional and ethical conduct.

5. Manager & Supervisor Effectiveness

- Mentor managers and supervisors on managing the shop floor effectively.
- Strengthen daily management routines, reviews and accountability mechanisms.
- Help managers transition from reactive firefighting to structured, process-driven management.
- Conduct regular reviews with functional leaders and highlight key operational and behavioral gaps.

6. Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, discipline and process compliance.
- Introduce relevant practices from automotive and mature manufacturing environments.
- Support implementation of initiatives such as 5S, visual management, daily management systems, root-cause analysis and standard work .
- Track improvement initiatives and report progress to the leadership team.

What We Are Looking For:

- 15+ years of relevant experience in automotive, auto components or a highly disciplined manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in plant / factory / shop-floor management is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with production teams, supervisors, operators and factory managers.
- Robust understanding of SOPs, work instructions, quality systems, safety and manufacturing discipline .
- Proven experience in employee training, coaching and behavioural change.




- Strong understanding of 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, visual management and daily management systems .
- Ability to influence managers and employees without relying solely on positional authority.
- Strong personal integrity, maturity and professional ethics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hands-on, practical and comfortable spending significant time on the shop floor.

- Former Plant Head / Factory Head
- Senior Production / Operations Leader
- Manufacturing Excellence / Operational Excellence Leader
- Senior Automotive Shop-Floor Manager
- Retired / semi-retired automotive manufacturing professional looking for consulting assignment
- Prior experience in implementing SAP or any ERP in Engineering / capital goods manufacturing company.
