- Source fabrics wovens, knits and specialty as per buyer and style requirements
- Identify and develop relationships with mills, traders and process houses
- Obtain and negotiate fabric quotes; compare cost, quality and lead time
- Coordinate fabric approvals lab dips, strike-offs, physical swatches with QA and merchandising
- Track fabric orders from placement to in-house delivery; follow up on delays
- Maintain an updated fabric library and vendor database
- Evaluate new fabrics and surfaces for product development
- Support cost reduction through alternative source development
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3 to 5 years of experience in fabric sourcing, fabric trading or at a textile mill.
- Sound knowledge of fabric constructions — wovens, knits,
georgettes, crepes, dobby, printed fabrics
- Understanding of dyeing, printing and finishing processes and their impact on quality
- Experience in fabric costing and negotiation with mills and traders
- Familiarity with testing standards — shrinkage, colour fastness, GSM, tensile strength
- Proficient in MS Excel and skilled email communication
- Degree in Textile Technology, Fashion or equivalent — preferred
