About the Role

We are seeking an experienced F5 Technical Design Authority (TDA) / Principal Solution Architect to provide technical leadership, architecture governance, and strategic direction for enterprise application delivery and security platforms. The successful candidate will act as the design authority for F5 technologies across complex multi-datacentre, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned to business and security requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the technical architecture and governance of enterprise F5 platforms
- Produce and review High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), build guides, migration plans, and operational standards
- Provide technical leadership across project lifecycles covering design, implementation, migration, upgrade, and optimisation
- Lead technical workshops with customers, service providers, application teams, and infrastructure stakeholders
- Act as technical escalation point for complex F5 and application delivery issues
- Define application delivery and security standards across multiple datacentres and cloud environments
- Design highly available and disaster recovery capable solutions
- Ensure solutions comply with security, risk, operational, and regulatory requirements
- Mentor engineering and operational teams on F5 best practices
- Provide roadmap and strategic guidance for ADC, application security, and network security technologies





Essential F5 Experience F5 BIG-IP Platform

- Advanced troubleshooting and packet analysis
- F5 migrations, upgrades, and platform consolidation projects
- Enterprise-scale F5 deployments supporting mission-critical applications

F5 Development & Automation

- Advanced iRules development
- iControl REST API
- F5 automation frameworks
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- CI/CD integration
- Git-based configuration management

Network Architecture Skills

- Solid experience designing and troubleshooting TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Routing and Switching
- Enterprise WAN and datacentre networking

Security Experience

- F5 Advanced WAF / ASM, F5 AFM
- DDoS protection
- OWASP Top 10 mitigation
- Web application security
- Identity and authentication technologies: SAML, SSO, MFA
- Zero Trust architectures
- Firewall architecture and policy design
- VPN technologies
- Threat prevention, security hardening, and compliance

Multi-Vendor Network Security Experience (Optional)

- F5 Engine X

Governance & Leadership Experience

- Acting as Design Authority or Technical Authority
- Approving architectural designs
- Producing architecture standards and reusable design patterns
- Reviewing solution designs from delivery teams
- Managing risk and technical governance
- Supporting large-scale enterprise transformation programmes
- Experience working within highly regulated environments such as Banking, Financial Services, Telecoms, or Critical National Infrastructure
