Company Description EyeMantra Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to eliminating preventable blindness and expanding access to high-quality eye care for underserved communities. Since 2013, the foundation has delivered sight-saving surgeries, eyeglasses, medications, and diagnostic services to more than 40 million individuals across rural and low-income regions in India.

EyeMantra focuses on vulnerable populations, including children, older adults, and women, through outreach camps, school screening programs, and permanent vision centers. Its model combines community-based engagement with advanced ophthalmic care, supported by partner hospitals, vision technicians, and volunteer doctors. EyeMantra’s mission is to build sustainable eye care ecosystems so that no person loses vision due to poverty or geographic isolation.

Role Description The Eye Doctor will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to patients served by EyeMantra Foundation’s facilities and outreach programs. This full-time, on-site role is based in Delhi, India, and involves conducting routine and specialized eye examinations, diagnosing and managing ocular diseases, and performing or supporting surgeries such as cataract and other common procedures.

The Eye

Doctor will participate in school screening initiatives, community eye camps, and follow-up care for patients referred from rural vision centers.

Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, prescribing medications and corrective lenses, maintaining accurate medical records,



and coordinating care with optometrists, vision technicians, and partner hospitals. The role also involves contributing to patient education, training local health workers, and supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities aligned with EyeMantra’s mission.

Qualifications

- Clinical ophthalmology expertise, including comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions, and familiarity with cataract and other routine eye surgeries.
- Proficiency in using standard ophthalmic equipment and diagnostic tools such as slit lamps, tonometers, ophthalmoscopes, and visual field testing devices.
- Solid patient-centered communication skills, with the ability to counsel individuals and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Experience or interest in community eye health, outreach programs, and working in resource-limited or rural settings.
- Commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory care and to EyeMantra’s mission of equitable access to eye health services.
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) with specialization in Ophthalmology (MD/MS/DNB) and valid registration with the appropriate medical council in India.
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, supervise and mentor junior clinicians or vision technicians, and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Working knowledge of basic electronic medical records or willingness to learn digital documentation systems.
