Role & responsibilities

- Lab Operations & Oversight: Supervise day-to-day wet lab activities and ensure technical accuracy for all PCR amplification, cycle sequencing, and capillary electrophoresis workflows.
- Team & Roster Management: Manage staff duty schedules, allocate lab tasks, and train team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and genetic analyzer maintenance.
- Assay & Quality Improvement: Optimize assay designs (primer design, PCR conditions) and drive continuous quality control (QC) improvements by analyzing chromatogram quality (Sanger trace data).
- Critical Value & CAPA Management: Verify critical or alert test results (such as pathogenic variants or sequence contamination) before data release, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Biosafety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to infection control (IPC), personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, chemical waste disposal (e.g., POP polymers, formamide), and public health reporting guidelines.
- Confidentiality & Safety:



Maintain absolute patient data privacy and actively monitor workplace occupational safety procedures to minimize chemical and biological lab risks.
- Operational Continuity: Escalate major instrument breakdowns (e.g., capillary blocks) or adverse reports to management, support team well-being, and step in for the Team Leader when absent.
- Ad-hoc Tasks: Execute any other wet lab processing or data entry duties assigned by superiors.

Preferred candidate profile

- Education: Masters degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related life sciences field.
- Sanger Lab Expertise: Hands-on experience with genomic DNA extraction, primer design, PCR optimization, cycle sequencing clean-up, and operating automated Genetic Analyzers.
- Data Analysis & Compliance: Familiarity with Sanger data analysis software .
