JOB DESCRIPTIONEXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPER

Reports To: General Manager / Operations Manager
Supervises: Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, Housepersons, Public Area Attendants, Linen/Laundry Staff and other Housekeeping Team Members
Location: Goa

- JOB PURPOSE The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for the overall management and smooth operation of the Housekeeping Department at Okean De Goa.
The position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, guest comfort and room readiness throughout the hotel. The Executive Housekeeper will lead the housekeeping team, plan daily operations, conduct inspections, control inventory and linen, coordinate with other departments, and ensure that guest rooms and public areas are maintained according to the hotel's standards.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Housekeeping Operations
- Plan, organize and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping Department.
- Ensure all guest rooms are cleaned, inspected and released on time for arrivals.
- Monitor departure rooms, stay-over rooms, vacant rooms and priority rooms.
- Ensure corridors, lobby areas, public areas, staircases, back-of-house areas and other hotel premises are maintained properly.
- Prepare and implement daily cleaning schedules and deep-cleaning schedules.
- Ensure housekeeping operations are properly managed during high-occupancy periods.
- Coordinate room cleaning priorities according to arrivals, VIP guests, special requests and operational requirements.
B. Room Inspection & Quality Control
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
- Ensure rooms meet Okean De Goa's required standards before releasing them to Front Office.
- Check cleanliness, linen, towels, amenities, bathroom condition, furniture, fixtures, lighting, AC condition and overall room presentation.
- Identify maintenance defects and immediately report them to the Maintenance/Engineering Department.
- Follow up on reported defects until they are resolved.
- Take corrective action whenever housekeeping standards are not maintained.
- Maintain consistent hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the property.
C. Staff Management
- Supervise and manage the complete Housekeeping team.
- Prepare staff duty rosters, shifts, weekly offs and work allocations.
- Allocate rooms and cleaning duties according to occupancy and workload.
- Monitor staff attendance, grooming, discipline and performance.
- Conduct daily briefings and communicate operational priorities to the team.
- Train new employees on cleaning procedures, hotel standards, hygiene, safety and guest service.
- Conduct regular on-the-job training and refresher training.
- Motivate the team and maintain professional discipline within the department.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend training or corrective action where required.
D. Front Office Coordination
- Maintain close coordination with the Front Office regarding room status.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of Vacant Clean, Vacant Dirty, Occupied, Out of Order and Out of Service room status.
- Prioritize rooms according to expected arrivals and guest requirements.
- Coordinate early-arrival rooms wherever operationally possible.
- Communicate room readiness to Front Office without unnecessary delay.
- Coordinate with Front Office regarding guest complaints, room changes, special requests and late check-outs.
E. Linen & Laundry Management
- Maintain proper control of bed sheets, pillow covers, towels, bath mats, blankets and other hotel linen.
- Maintain minimum and maximum/par stock levels.
- Conduct regular linen inventories and identify shortages or damages.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and movement of clean and soiled linen.
- Monitor laundry quality and turnaround time.
- Ensure damaged or condemned linen is properly recorded.
- Maintain proper records for linen movement and consumption.
F. Housekeeping Supplies & Inventory
- Maintain adequate stock of cleaning chemicals, guest amenities, toiletries and housekeeping materials.
- Monitor daily consumption and avoid unnecessary wastage.
- Maintain proper housekeeping store records.
- Prepare purchase requisitions when stock reaches the required reorder level.
- Check the quality and quantity of supplies received.
- Ensure all chemicals and cleaning products are properly labelled, stored and handled safely.
- Maintain control over housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mops, trolleys, cleaning machines and other tools.
G. Guest Service & Complaints
- Ensure prompt response to guest requests related to housekeeping.
- Handle cleanliness-related guest complaints professionally and ensure proper resolution.
- Coordinate room changes and additional cleaning requirements when necessary.
- Ensure VIP/special occasion rooms are prepared as per instructions.
- Maintain guest privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure Lost & Found procedures are strictly followed and all items are recorded and handed over as per hotel policy.
H. Hygiene, Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with hotel hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure housekeeping staff use equipment and chemicals correctly.
- Maintain safe working practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately to the concerned department.
- Ensure guest rooms and housekeeping areas are properly secured.
- Ensure master keys and room keys are handled strictly according to hotel policy.
- Ensure Lost & Found items are handled and recorded properly.
I. Cost Control
- Monitor housekeeping departmental expenses.
- Control unnecessary consumption of chemicals, amenities, linen and other supplies.
- Minimize linen and inventory losses.
- Monitor staff productivity and manpower requirements according to occupancy.
- Reduce wastage without compromising cleanliness or guest satisfaction.
- Assist management in preparing the Housekeeping Department budget and operational requirements.
J. Coordination With Other Departments
Maintain effective coordination with
- Front Office – Room status, arrivals, departures, room changes and guest requests.
- Maintenance/Engineering – Room defects, repairs and preventive maintenance.
- F&B; Department – Public area cleanliness and housekeeping requirements.
- Security – Lost & Found, guest/property security and incidents.
- HR – Recruitment, attendance, training, discipline and employee matters.
- Stores/Purchase – Housekeeping supplies, chemicals, linen and equipment.
- Management – Daily operational issues, manpower, expenses and departmental performance.

- Public Area Cleaning Schedule
- Guest Complaint/Request Record
- Purchase Requisition Records
4. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPIs)
Performance will be evaluated based on:
- Guest room cleanliness and presentation
- Timely room readiness
- Public area cleanliness
- Guest feedback and housekeeping complaints
- Staff productivity and discipline
- Linen control and inventory accuracy
- Housekeeping supply and chemical cost control
- Reduction of wastage and damages
- Timely reporting and resolution of maintenance issues
- Staff training and grooming standards
- Compliance with hotel hygiene and safety procedures
- Effective coordination with Front Office and other departments
Pay: ₹23,000.96 - ₹35,000.58 per month
