Junior Trainee Estimation Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Civil Engineering graduate to join our Estimation team as a Junior Trainee. You will work under senior estimation engineers and learn how construction projects are measured, priced and tendered, from reading drawings to preparing the final cost estimate. This is a robust starting point for a career in estimation, quantity surveying, and project costing.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in quantity take-offs from architectural and structural drawings and specifications (concrete, reinforcement, masonry, finishes, etc.).
- Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for tenders and projects.
- Collect and compare material, labour and subcontractor rates to support pricing.
- Prepare and update estimation sheets, reports and presentations using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Maintain organised records of estimates, drawing revisions, quotations and project documentation.
- Coordinate with senior engineers, planning, procurement and site teams on costing inputs.
- Learn and follow company estimation procedures, standards and checking protocols.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Civil Engineering, completed. A Diploma in Civil Engineering plus a B.E.

- Freshers, or candidates with up to 2 years of experience in estimation, billing, quantity surveying or site engineering.

Required Skills

- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel (formulas, tables, basic data handling), plus MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Good numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work in a team.
- Strong willingness to learn and take feedback.

Preferred Skills

- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Familiarity with estimation, BOQ or project-management tools (e.g., Revit, Primavera, MS Project, or a construction ERP).
- Understanding of IS codes, the Schedule of Rates (SOR/DSR), and standard methods of measurement.
- Internship, academic project or work experience in estimation, costing, billing or project engineering.
