An environmental engineer uses math, science, and engineering principles to design solutions for water and air pollution, waste management, and site cleanup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Systems: Build and improve water treatment facilities, wastewater systems, and air pollution control technologies
- Site Remediation: Investigate contaminated sites and create plans for hazardous waste cleanup.
- Regulatory Compliance: Inspect facilities, review operational plans, and ensure adherence to environmental laws and permit requirements.
- Data & Reporting: Collect field samples, analyse scientific data, and write technical reports for government agencies and corporate clients.
- Consulting: Advise public and private organizations on sustainability, environmental impact assessments, and green practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelors degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or M. Tech Environmental Engineering a closely related scientific field.
Total 10 Years & Minimum 4 Years in Metro/Railway/Highway/Infrastructure ok.
- Certifications: Many roles prefer or require a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license or progress toward a Qualified Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience: Practical experience gained through university internships or cooperative education programs.
Essential Skills:
- Problem-Solving: Anticipating ecological damage and creating preventive systems.
- Communication: Explaining complex technical data clearly to non-technical audiences and regulators.
- Math and Science: Using calculus, chemistry, biology, and physics for system design and evaluation.
