: Embedded Software Engineer

About the Role

Our company is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Embedded Software Engineer to drive the end-to-end development of embedded devices designed to solve real-world challenges. In this role, you will be responsible for taking projects from initial concept through to full production and site deployment.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including hardware engineers, QA/testing teams, software application developers, and field site engineers—to deliver reliable, production-ready embedded systems.

Objectives of this Role

- End-to-End Product Delivery: Lead embedded software development across the entire lifecycle, from architecture definition and concept to production and field deployment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware design teams, software application developers, QA testers, and site engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and successful site deployment.
- Hardware-Software Integration: Analyze SoC capabilities, read complex datasheets, and use vendor-provided SDKs/toolchains to accelerate bring-up and feature development.
- System Reliability & Debugging: Perform low-level board bring-up, hardware debugging, and signal analysis using diagnostic tools and hardware debuggers.
- Cloud & Server Connectivity: Implement wireless networking features enabling embedded devices to securely communicate with remote servers over Wi-Fi.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

- Firmware & Driver Development: Write efficient, modular, and maintainable C code using advanced data structures for bare-metal and RTOS/Linux environments.
- Board Bring-Up & Vendor Tools: Utilize vendor software suites, SDKs,



and toolchains (ESP-IDF, STM32Cube, etc.) to configure microcontrollers and microprocessors.
- Hardware Debugging & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot hardware-software issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and debug interfaces (JTAG, OpenOCD).
- Communication Protocol Implementation: Develop and integrate drivers for serial protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, Modbus, and related industrial/embedded buses.
- Network & Wireless Connectivity: Program embedded Wi-Fi modules and network stacks to enable device-to-server data transmission.
- Field & Site Support: Work directly with site engineers to troubleshoot, deploy, and issue software updates for devices in production environments.
- Code Quality & Technical Documentation: Conduct peer code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and maintain clear design and architecture documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications Architecture & Core Development

- Education & Experience: B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on embedded software engineering experience.
- Languages & Fundamentals: Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and a solid command of data structures for resource-constrained environments.
- Architectures: Solid knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor architectures, including ARM,



MIPS, and RISC-V .
- Protocol Expertise: Hands-on experience with serial communication protocols ( I2C, SPI, UART, Modbus ).
- Wireless & Server Networking: Basic understanding of how embedded devices connect and transmit data to a remote server over Wi-Fi (e.g., Sockets, HTTP/HTTPS, or lightweight IoT network stacks).

Debugging & Hardware Operations

- Hardware Debugging: Hands-on experience using JTAG and OpenOCD debuggers.
- Lab Equipment: Proficiency in using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes to trace signals, debug buses, and diagnose hardware issues.
- Datasheet Fluency: Ability to read schematics, evaluate SoC datasheets, and understand hardware constraints independently.

Workplace & Soft Skills

- Self-Motivation: High degree of initiative, ownership, and problem-solving drive.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams (Hardware, Application, Testing, and Site Deployment Engineers).

Preferred Skills & Qualifications (Excellent Pluses)

- IoT & Connected Devices: Prior hands-on experience developing IoT products or embedded devices that communicate with cloud/on-premise servers over Wi-Fi (e.g., using MQTT, WebSockets, REST APIs).
- RTOS / Embedded OS: Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux networking stacks.
- Version Control & Tooling: Familiarity with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Regulatory Environments: Understanding of safety-critical and regulated environments.
- Embedded Security: Basic knowledge of secure boot, flash encryption, and secure device-to-server communication (TLS/SSL).
