Position Overview
We are looking for an engineer to develop and optimize firmware for embedded platforms, working closely with hardware and cross-functional teams. The role involves end-to-end development, performance tuning, and enabling intelligent features on edge devices with a focus on efficiency and reliability. You will contribute to solving complex system-level challenges and building scalable, high-quality solutions across our connected IoT products wearables, smart locks, video-calling displays, sensing devices, and soundboxes, spanning bare-metal, FreeRTOS, and embedded Linux targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded firmware and software using Embedded C, C++, and Python.
- Develop bare-metal and FreeRTOS drivers and application logic across MCU (ESP32-C6/P4, STM32-class) and embedded Linux (Quectel SC60 Yocto BSP) targets.
- Work on microcontrollers, peripherals, and hardware interfaces.
- Bring up new boards from scratch — read and interpret schematics, verify signals and power rails, and develop firmware directly against the design.
- Develop and integrate communication interfaces like UART, SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, and Ethernet.
- Implement device connectivity and cloud communication — Wi-Fi, BLE, LTE/cellular, MQTT — including onboarding, provisioning, and OTA/FOTA flows.
- Debug and troubleshoot embedded systems using tools like debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD.
- Develop functional and unit tests, validate firmware functionality, and automate the same (including hardware-in-the-loop).
- Analyze system performance and optimize code for memory, power, and real-time constraints.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle: design, coding, testing, and debugging.
- Create prototypes to validate design concepts.
Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
- 1–3 years of experience in embedded software/firmware development.
- Solid programming skills in Embedded C, C++, and Python.
- Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS and working experience with Linux/RTOS.
- Bare-metal firmware development (no OS) — direct register access, startup code, and peripheral drivers.
- Good understanding of embedded systems architecture.
- Experience with hardware interfaces like UART, SPI, I2C, USB, PCIe, and Ethernet.
- Robust understanding of memory management and real-time constraints.
- Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and component datasheets, and develop firmware directly against the board design.
- Strong hardware debugging skills — able to root-cause issues at the hardware/firmware boundary using an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, and JTAG/SWD.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with development tools like compilers, debuggers, and version control (Git).
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related field.
Good to Have
- Working experience or understanding of RTOS variants like Zephyr, VxWorks, FreeRTOS.
- Working experience or understanding of BSP development.
- Working experience or understanding of Linux distributions and build environments (Yocto/Buildroot).
- ESP-IDF and the ESP32 ecosystem (ESP32-C6, ESP32-P4, etc.).
- Media/streaming pipelines — GStreamer, WebRTC, or MIPI camera/audio interfaces.
- Cellular connectivity (LTE/4G, PPP, dual-SIM/GSM).
- Cloud IoT integration — AWS IoT / KVS, MQTT provisioning, S3/OTA, mTLS.
- BLE peripheral/GATT development and sensor fusion (IMU, plantar/pressure sensing).
- Understanding of bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and OTA/FOTA.
- Experience with low-power embedded and battery-operated devices.
- Exposure to AI/ML deployment on edge/embedded devices.
- Familiarity with tools such as GDB, JTAG, Git, CMake, Make, Ninja, or similar development tools.
- Familiarity with CI, unit testing, or on-device (hardware-in-the-loop) test automation.
What We Look For
- Curiosity to open the box, read the datasheet, and figure out why it broke.
- Ownership — you follow a feature from idea to shipped firmware.
- Explicit communication and a collaborative, review-driven approach to code.
Pay: From ₹600,000.00 per year
Benefits
- Leave encashment
- Paid sick time
- Paid time off
- Provident Fund
Work Location: In person
