Electrician cum Shift Operator

Department: Production / Maintenance

Location: SFPL Plant, Palakkad

Position Overview

We are looking for an Electrician cum Shift Operator who will primarily be responsible for electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and ensuring the reliable functioning of electrical systems and equipment in the plant. During periods when electrical maintenance activities are limited, the employee will support shift production operations to ensure smooth and uninterrupted plant functioning.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Support

- Carry out routine electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of motors, VFDs, control panels, sensors and other electrical equipment.
- Attend to electrical breakdowns during shifts and take timely corrective action to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out preventive maintenance as per schedule and report electrical abnormalities.
- Assist in installation, repair and replacement of electrical components and equipment.
- Read and understand basic electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain records of electrical maintenance, breakdowns and repairs.
- Follow electrical safety procedures and ensure safe working practices.

Production / Shift Operations

- Support production activities during periods when electrical maintenance work is not required.




- Operate and monitor production equipment as per established SOPs and process requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and process parameters and report abnormalities promptly.
- Assist in material handling and movement within the plant as required.
- Supervise and guide workers assigned to the shift to maintain productivity, discipline, safety and housekeeping.
- Maintain shift logs, production records and checklists accurately.
- Coordinate with the Plant Manager, Production and Maintenance teams for smooth shift operations and effective handover.
- Assist in basic troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and escalate major breakdowns to the concerned team.
- Support dispatch and other operational activities when required to ensure continuity of production.

Qualifications & Skills

- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- 2–3 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge of motors, VFDs, control panels, sensors and basic industrial electrical systems.
- Basic understanding of production machinery and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to identify and respond to electrical and operational abnormalities.
- Good understanding of safety practices and workplace discipline.




- Ability to work effectively in a shift-based environment.

- Willingness to work rotational shifts and overtime when required.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a plant environment.
- Willingness to undertake production responsibilities as part of the role when electrical maintenance activities are limited.
- Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate effectively with production and maintenance personnel.

Attend electrical breakdowns promptly and carry out basic troubleshooting/corrective action effectively.

Complete ≥95% of assigned PM activities within the scheduled period.

Follow electrical safety procedures and ensure safe handling of tools, panels, motors and equipment; zero avoidable safety violations.

4. Production Support

During periods of limited electrical work, effectively support production operations and complete assigned shift duties as per SOP.

5. Shift Discipline & Documentation

Maintain shift records, breakdown reports and handover information accurately, with 100% completion of required records.

6. Teamwork & Workplace Discipline

Maintain punctuality, shift discipline, housekeeping and effective coordination with Production and Maintenance teams.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
