About the Role The Lead Electrical & Instrumentation will oversee the complete E&I; engineering scope across all phases of the Blue hydrogen and Ammonia projectfrom concept and pre-bid engineering to detailed design, procurement support, installation, testing, and commissioning. The incumbent will ensure all electrical and instrumentation systems are designed, engineered, and executed in compliance with project requirements, statutory norms, safety standards, and industry best practices. This role demands solid technical leadership, interdisciplinary coordination, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, vendors, and project interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Bid & Conceptual Engineering
- Lead E&I; inputs for pre-bid and conceptual design, including system sizing, specification preparation, power load estimation, instrumentation architecture, and BOQ development.
- Review client specifications, standards, and project requirements and prepare technical clarifications for bid submissions.
2. Detailed Engineering
- Manage the development and review of all discipline-specific engineering deliverables including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Cable Schedules
- Load Lists
- Equipment Specifications & Datasheets
- Control & Instrumentation Layouts
- Loop Diagrams
- Cause & Effect Diagrams
- Hook-up drawings
- Ensure E&I; designs comply with functional, process, and performance requirements.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, engineering documents, and FAT procedures.
3. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Prepare technical specifications, RFQs, and evaluation sheets for E&I; equipment such as:
- Power Transformers, Switchgear, PCCs, MCCs, UPS, motors.
- Substation, battery systems, grounding systems.
- Electrical protection systems, Arc-flash analysis.
- PLC/DCS systems, Analyzers, field instruments.
- Control valves, Shutdown valves, Blowdown and safety systems.
- HT & LT Cables, junction boxes, control panels.
- Support technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and engineering clarifications.
- Coordinate FATs, inspections, and quality checks with vendors.
- Define control logic, alarm philosophy, interlock design, and functional safety (SIL) assessments in line with IEC 61511.
4. Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Provide technical oversight during installation and commissioning of E&I; systems.
- Resolve site engineering issues and ensure adherence to approved drawings and standards.
- Support SAT, loop checking, control logic testing, and system energization.
5. Standards, Codes & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards including:
- IEC, IEEE, NEC, IS, NFPA, ANSI, ISA, API, ASME
- Electrical safety and arc-flash protection standards
- Hazardous area classification (ATEX, IECEx)
- Ensure all E&I; systems meet statutory, environmental, and regulatory compliance as per US norms.
6. Cross-Discipline Coordination
- Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, civil, and HSE disciplines to ensure total system integration.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, SIL studies, model reviews, and constructability assessments.
- Provide technical support for resolving interdisciplinary issues.
7. Project Controls & Documentation
- Identify E&I; deliverables and ensure timely preparation and submission.
- Track progress, highlight delays, and support corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, engineering processes, and project schedules.
8. Safety & Reliability
- Ensure electrical and instrumentation systems are designed for safe operation, reliability, and maintainability.
- Support development of grounding, lightning protection, and safety interlock systems.
- Drive implementation of best practices for electrical safety and instrumentation integrity.
