About The Role The Lead Engineer – Electrical Component at GE Vernova is a pivotal role responsible for leading the design and development of high-voltage electrical infrastructure for EHV/HV substations, primarily focusing on electrification solutions for grid-connected projects. This position requires a highly skilled qualified capable of managing complex engineering tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in substation design, a deep understanding of industry standards such as IEEE and IEC, and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical, efficient, and compliant electrical solutions.

They will work closely with sales, business development, and engineering teams, ensuring that all technical aspects align with project goals, safety regulations, and quality standards. This role also involves engaging with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and foster long-term relationships.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university. A minimum of 8 years of experience in EHV/HV substation design is essential, with proven expertise in power system components such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.



Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of renewable energy integration and industry standards like IEEE and IEC.

Excellent communication skills are required to effectively explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including clients and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary to balance technical requirements with business objectives. The ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients on a global scale is crucial.

Flexibility for international travel is also expected to support project needs worldwide.

Responsibilities

- Design HV (Primary) systems for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations, including preparation of single-line diagrams, layout plans, and sectional drawings for overall plant and equipment control rooms.
- Develop detailed electrical designs such as earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination systems, sag tension calculations, short circuit force analysis, and busbar sizing, adhering to IEEE and IEC standards.
- Perform equipment selection and sizing for all project-related electrical components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive distribution and auxiliary system designs, including evaluation of vendor drawings, technical specifications, and general technical proposals (GTP).
- Coordinate with procurement teams for tendering activities, including BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization, and vendor evaluation to select optimal equipment based on cost and quality.
- Collaborate with automation, civil,



and MEP teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall project framework.
- Lead site and office teams in project execution, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Stay updated on global advancements in renewable energy technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental health and safety (EHS) standards, and industry best practices.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing technical documentation, design revisions, and quality assurance processes.
