Edge Networking Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Edge Networking Engineers to deliver site-level Layer 2 access, distribution switching, wireless, and NAC infrastructure as part of a large-scale corporate divestiture programme. The role is responsible for designing, building, migrating, and separating edge network services across a large estate of office, production, and broadcast environments - ensuring retained-entity sites have clean, independent access infrastructure ahead of Day 1.

The successful candidate will work across multiple site environments and switching platforms (Cisco Catalyst 9000, Nexus, Meraki), delivering edge network changes at pace and collaborating closely with the core routing team, automation and tooling team, and platform/identity teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Site Edge Switching - Build & Migration
- Design and deploy Layer 2 edge switching stacks at retained-entity sites across a multi-site estate
- Migrate existing edge switch configurations to align with new VLAN, addressing, and uplink designs
- Configure distribution layer switching for production environments (storage, media production, transcoding) in coordination with the core routing team
- Deploy and configure access layer switches for office floors, build rooms, and specialist environments
- Ensure uplink connectivity to new core switches at each site

- Production & Broadcast Edge Networks

- Deliver edge switching for production distribution environments including media production platforms (Avid/Nexus), storage (Isilon/NAS), and transcoding infrastructure




- Configure specialist broadcast and news production switching
- Support production network integration with current routing domains
- Migrate or re-home production edge stacks as required by the separation design

- Meraki SD-WAN, LAN & Wireless

- Deploy and migrate Meraki MX SD-WAN appliances at retained-entity sites (hub-and-spoke, VPN, traffic shaping)
- Deploy and configure Meraki MS switches for site LAN access layers
- Deploy and configure Meraki MR wireless access points
- Migrate SD-WAN, LAN, and wireless configurations between Meraki organisations/networks as required by the separation
- Manage Meraki Dashboard templates for multi-site standardisation

- Wireless (Wi-Fi)

- Deploy and configure wireless infrastructure using Meraki or Juniper Mist platforms
- Migrate SSID configurations, RADIUS authentication, and wireless policies to new identity services
- Coordinate with the identity team for 802.1X / RADIUS integration with directory services
- Support wireless survey and validation activities using Ekahau or equivalent tools

- Network Access Control (NAC)

- Configure 802.1X wired authentication policies on edge switches integrated with NAC platforms (e.g. Cisco ISE)
- Support separation of authentication and authorisation policies to enforce entity access boundaries
- Configure VLAN assignment, MAB fallback, and guest access policies for edge ports
