Job Purpose The E-BOM Engineer is responsible for creation, maintenance, accuracy, and release of the Engineering Bill of Materials throughout the product lifecycle. The role works closely with Design, RD, Manufacturing, Purchase, Quality, Supply Chain, and Configuration Management teams to ensure that engineering product structures, part information, revisions, and engineering changes are correctly reflected in the PLM/ERP environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. E-BOM Creation Maintenance

- Create and maintain Engineering Bill of Materials (E-BOM) based on product design and engineering requirements.
- Maintain accurate product structures, assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and part relationships.
- Ensure correct part numbers, descriptions, quantities, units of measure, revisions, and effectivity.
- Maintain BOM accuracy throughout prototype, development, validation, and production phases.
- Perform BOM audits and resolve discrepancies.

1. Engineering Change Management

- Manage BOM updates arising from Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders/Notices (ECO/ECN).
- Ensure changes are implemented with correct revision and effectivity.
- Coordinate engineering change approvals with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain traceability of design and BOM changes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor open engineering changes and support timely closure.

1. PLM / ERP Data Management

- Create and maintain parts, assemblies, BOMs, and related engineering data in PLM/PDM systems.
- Support synchronization and transfer of engineering BOM information to ERP/manufacturing systems.
- Ensure compliance with part numbering, naming conventions, revision control, and documentation standards.
- Identify duplicate, obsolete, or incorrectly classified parts and initiate corrective actions.

1. E-BOM to M-BOM Coordination





- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to support E-BOM to M-BOM transformation/alignment.
- Identify differences between Engineering BOM and Manufacturing BOM.
- Ensure engineering changes affecting manufacturing are communicated and incorporated appropriately.
- Support product configuration, variants, options, and plant-specific requirements.

1. Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

Ensure BOM-related issues are identified, communicated, and resolved before engineering and production milestones.
1. Product Configuration Variant Management

- Maintain product variants and configurations.
- Ensure correct usage of common, optional, and variant-specific components.
- Manage component applicability and effectivity.
- Support current model introduction and product configuration activities.
- Prevent incorrect or duplicate part usage across product variants.

1. BOM Quality Compliance

- Conduct periodic BOM accuracy and completeness checks.
- Track BOM errors and engineering data quality.
- Ensure released engineering data follows internal engineering standards and approval processes.
- Support audits related to product configuration and engineering change management.

Qualification

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline
- Diploma with relevant BOM/PLM experience may also be considered

Experience:
- Approximately 3-8 years for Engineer/Senior Engineer roles
- Higher experience can be considered for Lead/Assistant Manager responsibility
