Chipsilica is looking for a Technical Director – RTL Design to lead customer-facing technical engagements for next-generation high-speed interface and advanced SoC programs.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. Once our business team initiates a customer engagement, the Technical Director takes ownership of the technical discussions, builds customer confidence, defines the execution strategy, assembles the engineering team, and drives the project to successful delivery.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems - not someone who has moved away from hands-on technical work.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead customer technical discussions after the initial business engagement.
- Present Chipsilica's technical capabilities to customer architects and engineering leaders.
- Understand customer requirements and convert them into executable technical plans.
- Define RTL architecture and implementation strategies for complex digital systems.
- Remain hands-on in RTL design, debugging, reviews, and technical problem-solving whenever required.
- Drive protocol-level discussions across multiple layers of high-speed interfaces.
Project Ownership
- Take complete ownership of customer projects from technical qualification to delivery.
- Build and lead project teams based on delivery requirements.
- Allocate engineering resources and provide technical direction.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews.
- Drive execution until successful project completion.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for customers.
Team Leadership
- Mentor RTL engineers across architecture, implementation, and protocol understanding.
- Establish engineering best practices and design quality standards.
- Build technically strong teams capable of handling advanced-node SoC programs.
Required Experience
- 15-20+ years of RTL Design experience in semiconductor design.
- Strong experience in high-speed interface protocols and complex digital architectures.
- Hands-on expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL development.
- Experience leading customer-facing technical engagements.
- Proven experience delivering IP, subsystem, or SoC-level projects.
- Strong debugging and architecture skills.
Preferred Protocol Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
