About the Role The Director - Finance serves as the Strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Foundation. This role holds total fiduciary responsibility for ensuring that the foundation is a well-managed, institutionalized, fully compliant, and financially viable organization. As a core member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will manage the intersection of long-term financial strategy, rigorous risk mitigation, capital preservation, working capital management and board-level governance.

The right candidate will keep the foundation abreast of modern budgeting and predictive control tools, manage a sophisticated treasury function, and champion innovative financing structures within the Indian non-profit ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Leadership and Treasury Management

- Long-Term Fiduciary Strategy: Partner directly with the Founder-Director and Board to design and execute long-term capital allocation strategies, multi-year financial models, and scalability forecasts.
- Treasury and Capital Preservation: Oversee the organization's treasury functions, managing liquid assets, optimization of cash flows, and capital preservation.
- Modernizing Financial Infrastructure: Implement and maintain state-of-the-art budgeting, financial planning, and control tools to streamline decision-making across all program verticals.

2. Board Governance and Secretarial Oversight

- Board Liaison: Serve as the primary financial interface to the Board of Directors and the Audit/Finance Committees. Present quarterly financial health, variance analyses, and strategic risk overviews.
- Secretarial and Statutory Governance: Oversee legal and secretarial compliance relevant to the foundation's legal structure (e.g., Trust, Society,

or Section 8 Company rules). Actively manage organizational registrations, annual filings, and legal documentation.

3. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Compliance

- Risk Mitigation: Design, implement, and maintain an Enterprise Risk Management framework spanning operational, financial, and reputational risks.
- Bulletproof Compliance: Guarantee absolute compliance with the shifting Indian non-profit regulatory landscape: FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act), Income Tax regulations (12A/80G), CSR laws under the Companies Act, and labor laws (PF/ESIC), Charity Commissioner requirements and GST.
- Donor Financial Reporting: Ensure absolute compliance with Donor financial reporting and utilisation requirements.
- Audit Management: Overhaul and monitor internal control frameworks. Lead the engagement for external statutory audits, internal risk audits, and rigorous donor-specific financial reviews.

4. Sector Innovation and Thought Leadership

- Blended Finance Models: Research and implement innovative financing methods (e.g., Social Impact Bonds, outcome-based funding pools, pooled CSR structures) tailored for the Indian non-profit sector, as relevant to the foundation, ensuring financial viability and sustainability.
- Donor and Stakeholder Relations: Act as the financial face of the foundation to institutional backers, HNIs, and corporate CSR boards, reinforcing trust through institutional-grade reporting transparency.

5.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Operations

- Capacity Building: Lead, mentor, and institutionalize a high-performing finance, accounts, and compliance team.
- Operational Synergy: Work closely with Program and other Vertical Heads to cultivate financial discipline across the organization, assisting them with budget management, resource optimization, and cost-efficiency.
- Management Information: Design and implement a comprehensive suite of management information reports to Senior Leadership to aid strategic and operational decision-making and monitoring of progress towards organisational goals.

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, MBA in Finance, or an equivalent advanced degree in financial management.
- Experience: 12 to 15+ years of post-qualification experience in financial management, with a minimum of 5 years in a core senior leadership role (CFO, Head of Finance, or equivalent) managing board interactions.
- Sector Expertise Preferred: Deep understanding of Indian non-profit statutory and financial regulations, including FCRA and corporate CSR governance laws is highly preferred.
- Systems Acuity: Demonstrated success leading organization-wide implementations of ERP systems, advanced MIS tools, and automated budgeting infrastructure.

Key Competencies and Attributes

- Fiduciary Gravitas: Comfort and experience communicating directly with board members, legal counsel, and institutional auditors.
- Balanced Visionary: The rare ability to design creative, forward-looking financial instruments while maintaining flawless accuracy in daily books and internal controls.
- Uncompromising Integrity: A steadfast commitment to transparency, ethical financial practices, and absolute regulatory compliance.
