About the Role A Junior Engineer Trainee (JET)-Service in the construction & mining machinery sector essentially performs the role of a service engineer—handling maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment like excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and compactors. The job is field-intensive, requiring hands-on mechanical and electrical work, adherence to safety standards, and direct interaction with customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repair of construction & mining equipment (excavators, loaders, compactors etc).
- Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Assist senior engineers in commissioning new machines and conducting inspections.
- Ensure timely resolution of breakdowns to minimize machine downtime.
- Always follow safety protocols and environmental guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

- Qualification: Completed Diploma in 2026 in Mechanical / Electrical/Automobile Engineering. Only 2026 pass-outs are eligible.
- Academic Performance: Minimum 60% marks in both SSC and Diploma.
- Academic Attempts: Candidates must have cleared all examinations and individual subjects in the first attempt itself. Candidates who have cleared any backlog/ATKT subsequently will be considered as having a second attempt and will not be eligible.
- Age: Not more than 23 years as on 1 July 2026.
- Medical Standards: Candidates should meet the company's prescribed medical standards, including:
- Minimum Height: Male – 152 cm | Female – 150 cm
- Minimum Weight:



Male – 43 kg | Female – 38 kg
- Eyesight: Normal eyesight. Candidates using spectacles/contact lenses are eligible, provided the power is within ±6 dioptres.

Eligible candidates will undergo:

1. L&T; Edutech Test
2. Interview by L&T; panel
3. Pre-Employment Medical Fitness

Salary:

Gross Salary: Rs 18k/month

Net Take Home Salary ( after PF, Mediclaim, PT & statutory compliance): approximately Rs. 16k/month based on the posting location

- Service Bond: A service commitment of ₹1,00,000 applies for the first two years of employment. In the event that a JET chooses to leave the organisation before completing the two-year service period, the applicable amount of ₹1,00,000 will be payable to L&T;, in accordance with the terms of the service agreement

Career Path

- Comprehensive technical training on construction and mining equipment fundamentals will be provided at the L&T; Training Centre, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, during the initial five months. Thereafter, candidates may be deployed across locations in India, based on business requirements.
- Initial training under senior service engineers for 1 year.
- Progression to Supervisory roles after 2 years of joining.

- Work setting: Outdoor, dusty, noisy, sometimes remote sites.
- Work hours: Irregular, depending on breakdowns and customer needs.
