Provost Contrives is looking for a skilled and motivated Design Engineer I – Automotive Plastics with solid hands-on experience in Siemens NX for automotive product design and development.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and detailing automotive plastic components, supporting design modifications, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready designs that meet customer and engineering requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX.
- Design and modify automotive interior/exterior plastic components.
- Apply plastic part design principles including draft, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, fillets, snap fits and parting-line considerations.
- Prepare and maintain 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T;.
- Work with Tooling, Manufacturing, CAE, Quality and other teams.
- Support DFM/DFA activities and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Ensure designs meet timelines, quality requirements and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, validation and engineering changes.
- Maintain design data and documentation.
- Interact with customers and internal stakeholders when required.





Key Technical Skills
- Siemens NX – 3D modelling & drafting
- Automotive plastic component design
- Injection moulding
- Knowledge of blow moulding/thermoforming, where applicable
- DFM/DFA
- GD&T; and engineering drawing standards
- Draft analysis, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, fillets and snap fits
- Parting line and tooling feasibility
- Engineering change management and design release processes
- Automotive product development knowledge

Preferred Experience Experience designing one or more of the following automotive plastic components:
- Instrument Panel / IP Components
- Door Trims / Door Panels
- Pillar Trims
- Console Components
- Garnishes
- Bumpers and Exterior Trims
- HVAC Components
- Glove Box
- Cockpit Components
- Centre Console
- Plastic Brackets & Mounting Components
- Other interior/exterior plastic parts
