Drone Design Engineer / UAV Design Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Drone Design Engineer to join our UAV R&D; team and contribute to the design, development, prototyping, testing, and optimization of multirotor and fixed-wing drone systems.

The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical as well as structural components, preparing manufacturing-ready designs, and supporting prototype testing and product development.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop UAV/drone airframes, frames, arms, landing gear, payload mounts, canopies, and mechanical components.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Perform design iterations based on prototype testing and flight-test feedback.
- Design components considering weight, strength, manufacturability, vibration, and aerodynamic requirements.
- Support structural analysis and FEA where required.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong understanding of UAV/drone mechanical design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, engineering drawings, tolerances, and DFM/DFA.
- Understanding of materials such as:

o Aluminium alloys o Carbon-fiber composites o Engineering plastics o Nylon/PA12





o ABS/PETG and other 3D-printing materials

- Basic understanding of aerodynamics and aircraft structures.
- Knowledge of FEA/structural analysis is preferred.

Additional Skills – Preferred
- Experience with multirotor, fixed-wing, VTOL, or hybrid UAVs.
- Experience with carbon-fibre/composite fabrication.
- Experience with CNC machining, injection moulding, or sheet-metal fabrication.

Educational Qualification

Required

- B.Tech/B.E. in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

Preferred

- Relevant project, internship, or skilled experience in UAV/drone design and development.

Experience

0–3 years of experience in UAV design, aerospace, mechanical design, robotics, or product development.

Freshers with strong UAV projects, CAD skills, and hands-on prototyping experience may also be considered.

The ideal candidate should have a hands-on approach to engineering, strong CAD and mechanical-design fundamentals, and an interest in developing real-world UAV systems from concept through prototype and flight testing.
