Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced DB2 z/OS Database Administrator with 5+ years of hands-on experience in DB2 database administration and management. The ideal candidate should have strong experience supporting DB2 environments, analyzing database health and performance, executing DB2 utilities, troubleshooting production issues, and working with JCL and VSAM.

Experience with IMS DBA activities and scripting/automation using SAS or REXX will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and support DB2 databases on z/OS in enterprise environments.
- Perform DB2 database management and administration activities, including database maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Analyze database health from both space utilization and performance perspectives.
- Monitor and analyze tablespaces for space utilization, availability, and performance.
- Execute and manage DB2 utilities such as:
- LOAD
- UNLOAD
- IMAGECOPY
- REORG
- RUNSTATS
- Other database maintenance utilities

- Perform database refreshes and data movement between environments/systems.
- Develop and execute SQL queries for data analysis, troubleshooting, and operational requirements.
- Analyze and troubleshoot DB2-related production issues and identify root causes.




- Work with JCL and VSAM as part of database administration and batch processing activities.
- Automate repetitive database administration and operational tasks using SAS or REXX where applicable.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to resolve database-related issues.
- Participate in database performance analysis, capacity planning, and ongoing optimization.
- Follow Agile methodologies and actively participate in team ceremonies and delivery activities.
- Maintain database administration standards, documentation, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in DB2 z/OS Database Administration.
- Strong experience in DB2 database management and application DBA activities.
- Good to advanced knowledge of JCL.
- Strong understanding of VSAM.
- Hands-on experience with DB2 utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, IMAGECOPY, REORG, and RUNSTATS.
- Experience analyzing tablespace space utilization and database performance.
- Strong SQL/query-writing skills.
- Experience with database refresh and migration between systems/environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to investigate database states, identify issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Good understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Good to Have

- Experience with IMS Database Administration.
- Knowledge of SAS or REXX for automation and scripting.
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise/mainframe environments.
- Exposure to production support and performance tuning.
