– Database SME Experience: 6–10 Years

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Database SME to manage and govern enterprise database operations across MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Azure Database services .

The candidate will be responsible for database availability, performance, backup/DR, security, audit compliance, cloud migration, incident management, capacity planning and vendor governance. The role requires strong hands-on technical skills and the ability to lead critical incidents and drive teams/vendors to closure.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage Production, DR, UAT, QA and Development database environments.
- Administer SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Manage provisioning, patching, upgrades, migrations, maintenance and decommissioning.
- Perform SQL/query tuning, indexing, execution-plan analysis, blocking and performance troubleshooting.
- Monitor database health, storage, capacity, failed jobs and resource utilization.
- Manage backup, restore, replication, HA and DR activities.
- Conduct restore testing and DR/failover exercises aligned with RPO/RTO.
- Lead database troubleshooting, P1/P2 incidents, RCA and permanent corrective actions.
- Govern database security, privileged access, encryption, audit logging and compliance.
- Support ITGC, security reviews and internal/external audits and drive observations to closure.
- Perform database capacity forecasting, archiving, partitioning and cost optimization.
- Support Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, Azure Monitor and Azure Backup.
- Support database integration with Kubernetes/AKS.




- Automate administration and reporting using PowerShell and T-SQL.
- Lead database migration, modernization, upgrade and consolidation initiatives.
- Manage database vendors/MSPs and review SLA, SOW, BOQ, licensing, commercials and deliverables.
- Maintain SOPs, runbooks, inventories, dashboards and operational documentation.
- Mentor junior DBAs and coordinate daily database operations.

Mandatory Skills
- 6–10 years of database administration/operations experience.
- Strong MS SQL Server expertise.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL and MySQL experience.
- Strong knowledge of performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with backup, restore, HA and DR.
- Good understanding of RPO/RTO and recovery testing.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure database services.
- Knowledge of database security, audit and ITIL processes.
- Experience handling P1 incidents and L3 escalations.
- PowerShell/T-SQL scripting experience.
- Experience managing vendors/MSPs and technical escalations.
- Strong stakeholder communication and ownership.

Preferred

- Azure Database Administrator certification.
- Azure Administrator certification.
- ITIL Foundation.
- PostgreSQL/MySQL certification.
- Kubernetes/AKS database exposure.
