Role Overview We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer specialising in Snowflake to contribute to the development, automation, security, monitoring, and operational reliability of an enterprise data platform. This is a Snowflake Platform Engineering role rather than a traditional Data Engineering role.

The position requires hands-on experience administering and operating Snowflake in a production environment, along with exposure to the broader Snowflake ecosystem. The role will focus on implementing secure, scalable, automated, and observable Snowflake platform capabilities that enable data teams to effectively leverage Snowflake for analytics and reporting.

Role Focus

The primary focus of this role will be on: Snowflake platform administration and operations Snowflake security and access management Compute and warehouse management Snowflake Shares Identity integration and access controls Platform automation Infrastructure as Code CI/CD and DevOps practices Monitoring and observability Cost monitoring and optimisation Platform governance Performance monitoring and optimisation Reusable platform templates and modules ETL and data pipeline development are not core requirements for this role. However, an understanding of data engineering practices and experience supporting or working alongside Data Engineering teams is relevant.

Key Responsibilities Contribute to the automation of Snowflake resource provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform. Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake infrastructure and configuration using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps. Assist in implementing monitoring and alerting frameworks using Snowflake-native tools.

Participate in Snowflake cost monitoring and warehouse optimisation, including warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, and usage tracking. Support the implementation of Snowflake security and access control patterns, including RBAC, data masking, encryption, and identity integration. Work with Entra integration, Single Sign-On, SCIM, and OAuth.





Contribute to testing and validation processes for platform changes to ensure stability and compliance. Help maintain platform governance controls, including audit logging and access reviews. Contribute to reusable templates, patterns, and modules for standardising platform provisioning and configuration.

Support monitoring and performance analysis, including usage tracking and query profiling. Work with Snowflake Shares and relevant Snowflake platform capabilities. Contribute to technical documentation, including runbooks, platform guides, and onboarding materials.

Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with platform standards and best practices.

Experience with CI/CD tools such as: GitHub Actions Azure DevOps Exposure to DevOps practices. Programming &

- Automation Proficiency in SQL. Scripting experience with Python or Bash. Python is the preferred programming language.

Qualifications &

Experience 8–12 years of overall experience.

Experience in platform or cloud engineering. Approximately 1+ year of Snowflake experience, with 2–3 years preferred. Hands-on Snowflake platform engineering/administration experience.

Experience working with Snowflake in a production environment. Snowflake certification is mandatory. SnowPro Core is expected. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. Commitment to maintaining technical documentation and shared platform knowledge. Positive-to-Have Skills Azure experience — strongly preferred but not mandatory. Terraform.

Azure Data

Factory. Synapse / Spark. Data engineering tooling exposure. Power BI.

Business

Objects. Sigma. SAS integration with Snowflake. Exposure to large-scale databases such as Oracle, IBM, or Teradata. Understanding of data engineering practices.

Experience supporting or working alongside Data Engineering teams.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Snowflake Platform Engineer with production administration experience and a strong understanding of Snowflake security, access management, compute, monitoring, governance, and automation. The candidate should be comfortable working with senior engineers and cross-functional teams while contributing to the consistency, reliability, and operational effectiveness of the Snowflake platform.
