: Data Architect – Microsoft Fabric

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Architect to design and lead the implementation of our enterprise data platform on Microsoft Fabric. You will define the architecture, standards, and governance for our analytics ecosystem, from ingestion through OneLake to reporting in Power BI. You will work with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI teams to deliver scalable, secure, cost-productive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

- Design end-to-end data architecture on Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and Eventhouses, aligned with business and analytics needs.
- Define and implement medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) using Delta Lake format and clear data modeling standards.
- Choose the right Fabric workload for each use case, such as Lakehouse vs. Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2 vs. Notebooks, or Direct Lake vs. Import mode.
- Design dimensional models, star schemas, and semantic models optimized for Power BI performance.

Data Integration & Engineering

- Architect ingestion patterns using Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Mirroring, and OneLake Shortcuts for sources such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, Snowflake, SAP, Salesforce, ADLS Gen2, and Amazon S3.
- Guide development of Spark notebooks (PySpark/Spark SQL) for large-scale transformation.
- Design real-time and streaming solutions using Real-Time Intelligence, Eventstreams, and KQL databases.
- Lead migration of existing platforms (Azure Synapse, SSIS, on-prem data warehouses, Databricks) to Fabric.

Governance, Security & Operations

- Establish data governance using Microsoft Purview, including lineage, cataloging, sensitivity labels, and data classification.
- Define workspace strategy, domains, and access controls, including workspace roles,



item permissions, row-level security, object-level security, and OneLake security.
- Plan and optimize Fabric capacity (F SKUs), monitor usage with the Capacity Metrics app, and manage costs.
- Implement CI/CD using Git integration (Azure DevOps/GitHub) and Fabric deployment pipelines.

Leadership & Collaboration

- Serve as technical authority and mentor for data engineers and BI developers.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and present architecture decisions to leadership.
- Create architecture documentation, design patterns, and best-practice guidelines.
- Evaluate new Fabric features and roadmap items and recommend adoption where they add value.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Fabric components: OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Notebooks, Real-Time Intelligence, and Power BI.
- Deep knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet, and lakehouse architecture principles.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL (T-SQL), PySpark, and Python; working knowledge of KQL and DAX.
- Proven experience in data modeling, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, and normalized designs.
- Solid understanding of the Azure ecosystem: ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Entra ID, and Key Vault.
- Experience with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks such as GDPR or HIPAA.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage both technical and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications: DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate), DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate), or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) .
- Experience with Azure Databricks, Snowflake, or other modern data platforms.
- Exposure to AI/ML integration within Fabric, including Data Science workloads, Copilot in Fabric, and Data Agents.
- Experience leading large-scale cloud migration programs
