Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Cutting In-charge – Leather Garments to independently manage day-to-day leather cutting operations. The candidate will be responsible for achieving cutting targets, controlling leather consumption and wastage, ensuring quality standards, and providing timely cut parts to the production lines as per the production plan.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage complete day-to-day operations of the Leather Cutting Department.
- Execute daily and weekly cutting plans as per production requirements and shipment priorities.
- Allocate work to cutters and ensure achievement of planned cutting targets.
- Check leather quality, shade, thickness, defects and suitability before cutting.
- Ensure correct shade grouping, panel matching and leather segregation before and during cutting.
- Ensure cutting is done strictly according to approved patterns, specifications and production requirements.
- Monitor planned leather consumption vs. actual consumption style-wise.
- Control leather wastage and improve leather utilization through proper placement and cutting techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of leather issued, consumed, balance leather, cut quantity, rejection and wastage.
- Coordinate with Leather Store, Pattern Department, Merchandising, PPC, Production and Quality for smooth workflow.
- Ensure timely availability of cut panels to production lines to avoid production stoppages.
- Check pattern availability and clarify any pattern or consumption issue before bulk cutting.
- Ensure proper numbering, bundling and identification of cut components.
- Monitor daily cutting target vs.



actual achievement and report deviations with reasons.
- Identify reasons for excessive leather consumption, rejection or cutting delays and take corrective action.
- Maintain proper control over recutting and replacement requirements.
- Ensure cutters follow quality standards and avoid avoidable defects or damage during cutting.
- Train and guide cutters on optimum leather utilization, defect avoidance and quality requirements.
- Plan manpower according to production load and priorities.
- Maintain discipline, housekeeping, safety and proper handling of leather within the cutting section.
- Submit daily cutting reports and other required MIS to management.
- Work closely with the Production Manager and senior management to improve productivity, efficiency and cost control.

Required Skills & Knowledge: Robust practical knowledge of sheep/lamb, goat and other garment leathers, leather grading and defect identification, shade matching, leather consumption calculation, manual/pattern cutting, cutting efficiency, wastage control, garment components, production planning and team handling. The candidate should be comfortable working with daily targets and reporting Plan vs. Actual.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

Candidate should have 7–10 years of hands-on experience in leather garment cutting, preferably with a reputed leather garment export/manufacturing house. He should be capable of independently handling the cutting department, manpower, production priorities, leather utilization and coordination with other departments.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Cutting target achievement, leather consumption vs. standard, leather utilization/wastage percentage, cutting rejection and recutting, timely feeding to production, manpower productivity, and accuracy/timeliness of cutting reports.
