Job Title: Counsellor - ICCHA

Job Location: EnAble India office, Bangalore

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide counselling and emotional well-being support primarily to persons with disabilities, including job seekers, trainees, and working professionals, while extending support to caregivers and family members when required. Contribute to awareness programs, referral coordination, and strengthening access to inclusive counselling services through partnerships and outreach.

Key Responsibilities

Counselling Services

- Conduct intake, assessment, and individual counselling sessions.
- Support persons with disabilities facing emotional, behavioural, family, educational, workplace, and lifetransition concerns.
- Develop appropriate support plans based on individual needs.
- Provide follow-up support and monitor client progress.
- Maintain program reports, referral tracking records, and impact-related data.
- Identify situations requiring specialised intervention and facilitate referrals to appropriate mental health professionals and partner organisations.
- Follow ethical and confidential counselling practices.

Workshops and Capacity Building

- Conduct mental health awareness and emotional wellbeing sessions.
- Facilitate workshops for persons with disabilities, caregivers, institutions, employers, and community groups.
- Develop simple, accessible learning resources, awareness materials, and counselling tools as required.
- Adapt content based on audience and accessibility requirements.

Partnerships and Outreach

- Support engagement with educational institutions, NGOs, employers, hospitals, mental health professionals, and community organisations.
- Represent ICCHA in awareness programs, meetings, events, and collaborative initiatives.
- Support outreach activities that increase access to counselling and support services.

Program Support





- Contribute to strengthening ICCHA services, processes, and referral networks.
- Maintain reports, documentation, referral records, and impact-related data.
- Support planning and implementation of awareness and outreach activities.

Required qualification:

- Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, Psychiatric Social Work, or related field.

Required experience:

- Minimum 3 years of counselling experience.
- Experience conducting assessments and counselling sessions.
- Strong understanding of counselling ethics and mental health practices.
- Experience working with individuals, families, or people facing emotional, social, or life challenges.

Key Skills:

- Proficiency in English, Hindi, and at least one of the following: Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam.
- Experience conducting individual counselling sessions and assessments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Good facilitation and workshop delivery skills.
- Documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to build relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and skilled boundaries.
- Basic MS Office / Google Workspace skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

- Experience working with persons with disabilities is desirable.
- Understanding of disability inclusion and accessibility practices.
- Experience conducting workshops and awareness programs.
- Openness to learning and working with individuals from diverse disability backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Indian Sign Language (ISL) will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel for workshops, awareness programs, stakeholder meetings, and outreach activities.
