We are looking for a Contracts Engineer to manage and administer construction contracts for a high-rise residential project. The role involves contract preparation, subcontractor management, quantity and billing verification, variation management, correspondence, claims, and coordination with project and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Administration
- Prepare, review, and administer contracts, work orders, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Monitor contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
- Maintain proper records of contracts, amendments, correspondence, notices, and supporting documents.
2. Subcontractor Management
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors regarding contractual and commercial matters.
- Review subcontractor quotations, scope of work, inclusions, exclusions, and commercial terms.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against contractual commitments.
- Assist in resolving contractual issues and disputes with subcontractors.
3. Billing & Quantity Verification
- Review and verify subcontractor RA bills against approved BOQs, measurements, drawings, and site progress.
- Coordinate with the Quantity Surveying/Planning/Site teams for measurement verification.
- Check variations, additional works, deductions, recoveries, and applicable contractual provisions.
- Maintain records of certified quantities and payments.
4. Variations & Claims
- Identify and document variations, additional works, omissions, and changes in scope.
- Prepare variation statements and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparation and evaluation of contractual claims.
- Maintain a proper Variation/Change Order Register and Claims Register.
- Ensure timely submission of notices and contractual correspondence.
5. Contractual Correspondence
- Prepare letters, notices, emails, and other contractual communications.
- Draft correspondence related to delays, non-compliance, variations, extensions of time, and other contractual matters.
- Maintain a systematic record of all project correspondence.
6. Project Coordination
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Finance, QA/QC, and Site Execution teams.
- Participate in commercial and contractual review meetings.
- Provide contractual inputs during project planning and execution.
- Support management in monitoring project cost and contractual risks.
7. Cost & Commercial Monitoring
- Assist in monitoring project budgets and committed costs.
- Track subcontract values, amendments, variations, and final account settlements.
- Assist in forecasting final project costs.
- Identify potential commercial risks and communicate them to management.
8. Final Account & Closeout
- Prepare and review subcontractor final accounts.
- Reconcile quantities, variations, recoveries, and payments.
- Ensure completion of contractual documentation and project closeout.
- Assist in obtaining final settlements and release of contractual obligations.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institution.
- Additional qualifications in Construction Contracts, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Project Management will be an advantage.
