Role Description The Conti Chef Commi 1 is a full-time, on-site role based at The Shalimar Hotel in Mumbai. The role involves assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of continental dishes according to hotel standards and menu specifications. The Commi 1 supports senior chefs in daily operations, including mise en place, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring proper storage and labeling of ingredients.

The role includes monitoring food quality, following standard recipes, and adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Commi 1 also collaborates with the kitchen team to ensure timely service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and participates in inventory checks when required.

Qualifications

- Solid foundation in continental cuisine, including basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and food preparation methods.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and proper storage practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and plating standards consistently.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with chefs and service staff in a high-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen equipment operation, care, and safety procedures.
- Relevant culinary education or certification from a recognized institute is preferred.
- Prior experience as Commi or trainee in a hotel or restaurant kitchen, ideally in continental or multi-cuisine operations.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as per hotel operation requirements.
