Inner Labs helps brands show up and get recommended inside AI-generated answers on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews.

The role

You write content that AI systems cite.

That is the whole job. When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity about a category our client operates in, the answer is assembled from sources the model decided were worth pulling from. Your work is to make our clients' content one of those sources. It is a different craft from writing to rank on Google: you are writing to be extracted and quoted, not to sit at position one.

You also own the conversation about what you wrote. There is no account manager translating your work to the client and no strategist handing you briefs. You sit on the call, explain the thinking, take the feedback, and go write the next thing.

Writing job first. Client-facing second, and genuinely so.

What you will do

- Write content built to be cited: educational pages, FAQs, explainers, hub pages, comparison content and community posts. Structured so a model can lift a clean, quotable answer out of them.
- Write to the sub-questions a real prompt fans out into, rather than to a keyword. Most of the craft sits here.
- Work from prompt, citation and sentiment data on our own platform to decide what a page needs to answer and where a client is currently absent from the answer.
- Write for the third-party sources that AI systems actually cite,



including community and forum content, not only for the client's own site.
- Join monthly client calls to present what you wrote and why, and handle feedback directly.
- Write the narrative sections of client reporting.

You are probably a fit if

- You have two or more years writing for brands or publications.
- You can show published work and explain what you specifically did on it, in the first person.
- You write clearly enough that a paragraph of yours could be quoted on its own and still make sense.
- You can hold your own on a call with a marketing head, including disagreeing politely when the feedback would make the work worse.
- You are genuinely quick. Volume here is real.

You do not need prior AEO or GEO experience. Almost nobody has it. We will teach the method. You need to be a strong writer who finds this interesting.

You will probably not enjoy this if

- You want someone else to present your work.
- You have only ever worked to handed-down keyword briefs.
- You want a strategy role with some writing attached.

Hiring process

Two conversations and a short paid exercise on a real prompt set for a real category. We will ask you to walk through published work in detail. We care more about evidence than polish. We close within two weeks of the first conversation.
