Content Strategist

About AppsForBharat

AppsForBharat is a Series C funded faith-tech startup backed by leading investors including Fundamentum, Susquehanna Asia VC, Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital), Elevation Capital, and BEENEXT. Our team draws talent from IITs, IIMs and other premier institutes, with deep experience scaling high-growth consumer internet startups.

Our flagship product, Sri Mandir, launched in November 2020, is the world's largest app for Hindu devotees, a digital sanctuary offering seamless access to sacred rituals, divine teachings, and a vibrant spiritual community. The app is growing 20–25% month-on-month, and content is at the heart of how we build daily habit and devotion among millions of users.

Content is at the heart of one of our flagship devotee-facing initiatives — a steady stream of devotional, scripture-rooted, and culturally resonant content that keeps devotees engaged with their faith every single day. This role is central to how that experience is planned, written, and brought to life across formats.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Content Strategist to ensure continuity and excellence across content planning, script writing, content strategy, and execution for one of our key devotional content initiatives. This is a high-ownership role for someone who can think like a strategist and execute like a creator, moving fluidly from planning a content calendar to writing a sharp script to overseeing the final video output.

You will work closely with Design, Product, and Growth teams to ensure our content is not only spiritually authentic and high-quality, but also optimised for engagement, discovery, and habit formation. Fluency in Hindi is mandatory, as a majority of scripting, storytelling, and devotee communication happens in Hindi.

Key Responsibilities

Script & Copywriting

- Write compelling, culturally authentic scripts and copy across formats short-form video, long-form video, in-app content, and social content.

- Ensure every script balances devotional authenticity with a modern, engaging storytelling style suited to how audiences consume content today.
- Hindi fluency is mandatory, you should be able to write and review scripts confidently and accurately in Hindi, as the majority of this content is produced in the language.

Content Strategy & Planning

- Own the content strategy for a high-priority devotional content vertical, ensuring a consistent, high-quality drumbeat of content that builds daily habit among devotees.
- Plan and manage content calendars across formats, balancing evergreen devotional content with trending, seasonal, and festival-linked themes.
- Identify content gaps and opportunities by studying devotee behaviour, engagement trends, and what's resonating in the devotional content space.

Production Oversight

- Oversee the journey from script to final video, working closely with production and design teams to ensure content is executed the way it was envisioned.
- Review shot content and edits for accuracy, tone, and devotional sensitivity before publishing.

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate closely with Design, Product, and Growth teams to align content output with product experiences and growth goals.
- Partner with Growth and Analytics to understand what content drives engagement, and translate those learnings back into the content plan.

Content Operations & Execution

- Manage end-to-end content operations — from ideation and planning to production tracking and publishing timelines.
- Ensure content is delivered on time, consistently, and without gaps in the daily publishing cadence.

Engagement & Trend Awareness

- Stay on top of trending formats, cultural moments, and festival calendars to keep our content timely and relevant.
- Continuously experiment with new formats and storytelling styles to drive higher engagement and shareability.

What you bring

- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in content strategy, scriptwriting, or content production, ideally in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
- Hindi language proficiency: Mandatory. You should be able to write, review, and refine scripts and copy fluently in Hindi.
- Strong scriptwriting and storytelling skills across short-form and long-form video formats.
- Demonstrated ability to manage content calendars and coordinate multiple pieces of content in production simultaneously.
- Comfort working closely with production and design teams, with an eye for detail on the final video output, not just the script.
- Strong understanding of what drives engagement on trending and devotional content.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.

Bonus Points

- Prior experience creating devotional, spiritual, or cultural content.
- Hands-on experience overseeing video production, from script to final edit.
- Experience working with content calendars tied to festivals, cultural events, or trending news cycles.
- Familiarity with short-form video platforms and what makes content perform well on them.

Why you'll love it here

- Own content that reaches and inspires millions of devotees every single day.
- True end-to-end ownership: strategy, script, production, and publishing.
- Highly cooperative, autonomous work culture.
- Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives.
- Health & wellness benefits for you and your family.
- A serene, pet-friendly, peaceful office in the heart of HSR Layout, Bangalore.

Join us in shaping how millions connect with their faith, one story at a time.
