Role Purpose The Consulting Manager delivers analytical and advisory support for network and telecommunications sourcing engagements involving connectivity and managed services. The role focuses on contractual analysis, sourcing strategy development, and RFP documentation.
The position requires working knowledge of telecom and network services, carrier pricing structures, contract terms, and managed services delivered by system integrators or managed service providers, including their financial and commercial structures.
Key Accountabilities
Engagement Delivery
- Analyze proposals, contracts, amendments, and pricing structures.
- Support sourcing strategy development aligned to client operational, technical, financial, and contractual requirements.
- Develop RFP documentation, including pricing templates and evaluation models.
- Prepare and deliver client-ready analyses and recommendations.
Financial and Contract Analysis
- Review and assist with financial models that evaluate sourcing scenarios and total cost of ownership.
- Identify pricing discrepancies, billing issues, and optimization opportunities.
- Assess commercial terms and contractual risk elements.
Stakeholder and Vendor Management
- Manage communications with vendors in accordance with ISG engagement standards.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders across technical, finance, and procurement functions.
- Support engagement leads in client presentations and strategy discussions.
Scope and Impact
- Contributes to network sourcing engagements of moderate complexity.
- Works under the direction of an Engagement Lead while managing defined workstreams independently.
- Directly supports client cost optimization, contract-risk mitigation, and sourcing outcomes.
Knowledge Skills And Experience Qualifications Experience:-
- 7-10 years of professional experience.
- At least 7 years in telecommunications, network services, IT services, or a related consulting field.
- Experience with carriers, service providers, or consulting organizations.
Technical And Commercial Skills
- Advanced financial-modeling skills in Excel.
- Data visualization and reporting skills, including Power BI.
- Working knowledge of telecom and network pricing models and billing constructs.
- Understanding of telecom and IT contracting processes and commercial structures.
- Working knowledge of managed services delivered by system integrators or managed service providers and their financial and commercial structures.
- Experience in consulting engagements within the sourcing and outsourcing industry, with a large consulting firm or specialist practice, or through management of large transformation programs.
- Significant deal advisory experience, including IT outsourcing sourcing transactions or leading and managing deals at service providers.
- Strong understanding of global corporate large-deal practice, including key win drivers, solution design, cost levers, and service-level agreements.
- Experience with transformation initiatives that address shared services, operational improvement, and outsourcing or offshoring strategies.
- Experience advising clients on IT and sourcing strategy, with direct client-facing exposure.
- Ability to assess current IT environments and process maturity, analyze IT spend and cost structures, and identify cost-optimization opportunities.
- Familiarity with Gen AI, cloud, and digital solutions, and IT outsourcing across application services, infrastructure services, and ERP; able to incorporate them into large-deal solutions.
- Financial management and financial-modeling experience, including development of business cases for outsourced services and service-provider options.
- Experience advising on IT strategy engagements and designing and executing target operating models that align to client business objectives and improve operations.
- Working knowledge of Tier 1 and Tier 2 outsourcing vendors, the full sourcing lifecycle, and IT contract terminology.
- Strong data analysis skills, including market sourcing comparisons, current-state assessments, gap and opportunity analysis, change readiness, delivery-model alternatives, and service-delivery strategy.
- Strong English presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas in transparent business terms to senior leaders and diverse global stakeholders.
Business And Engagement Skills
- Business-development and sales experience, including prospecting, lead qualification, proposal writing, sales calls, and sales support.
- Practice-development experience, including sales and marketing collateral, intellectual-property development, and solution development.
- Delivery, program, or project-management experience, including team leadership across project phases, client relationship management, and oversight of multiple projects.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, technology, or a related technical or scientific discipline.
- MBA, MS, or another advanced degree is desirable.
Duties And Responsibilities
- The Consulting Manager contributes as a key team member or leads defined workstreams in large or mega-deal engagements within a business function.
- Support advisory teams in applying ISG methodology and tools to client sourcing initiatives.
- Assist or lead initial assessments, project plans, vendor research and selection, financial modeling, RFP development, contract negotiations, and post-selection administrative activities.
- The Consulting Manager contributes to firm thought leadership, practice and intellectual-property development, sales and marketing collateral, presales activities, and methodology enhancements.
- Work closely with senior leadership and client teams to support successful delivery and clarify client needs and requirements.
- Facilitate client workshops and presentations that translate complex concepts into actionable insights.
- Conduct data analysis, benchmarking, and market sourcing comparisons to support client decisions.
- The Consulting Manager contributes to business cases, client presentations, and deliverables related to sourcing strategies and operational improvements.
