Anticipated Tenure-Track Faculty Chance in Civil & Environmental Engineering | University of Pittsburgh - Advanced Infrastructure Systems The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates recruiting for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank with an expected start date of Fall 2027.
We will be seeking candidates in Advanced Infrastructure Systems with expertise in areas including but not limited to physics-based artificial intelligence, intelligent sensing, experimental mechanics, autonomous monitoring and experimentation, and advanced infrastructure materials, and who employ interdisciplinary approaches and innovative methodologies to improve the design, operational maintenance, and resilience of civil infrastructure systems at the regional and national levels. We are particularly interested in candidates working on digital twin technologies for infrastructure,
computer vision and remote/embedded sensing to augment computational simulation, and immersive visualization methods (e.g., augmented and virtual reality, holographic projection) for infrastructure resilience and sustainable engineering.
Applicants should also have a viable plan to develop and sustain a strong, externally funded research program, the ability and desire to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department’s undergraduate and graduate programs and commitment to support service in the Department, the Swanson School of Engineering, and the University of Pittsburgh.
