About the Opportunity
We are undertaking a confidential executive search for an experienced NBFC / Lending industry leader to take complete executive responsibility for the next phase of disciplined business growth.
The role requires a senior leader who can combine strategic leadership with hands-on operating responsibility across fundraising, portfolio performance, lending operations, business expansion, risk management, governance, stakeholder management and leadership development.
The CEO will work closely with the Board to translate strategic direction into executable business plans, strengthen the funding and operating platform, build leadership capability and drive sustainable business value while maintaining strong credit, risk and governance standards.
Key Leadership Mandates
? Fund Raising & Capital Management
Develop and execute a multi-year funding strategy aligned with AUM growth, liquidity requirements and asset-liability profile.
Build and strengthen relationships with banks, financial institutions, debt investors, strategic investors and other funding partners.
Diversify funding sources and maturities while managing concentration risk and funding costs.
Lead lender/investor engagement, due diligence, business plans, information memoranda and credit-rating interactions.
Work with the Board and finance team on capital planning, liquidity buffers, leverage and treasury discipline.
? Lending Operations & Operational Excellence
Review and strengthen the complete lending lifecycle covering sourcing, underwriting, documentation, disbursement, servicing, collections and recoveries.
Improve TAT, productivity, service standards and cost efficiency.
Drive technology adoption, management dashboards, data quality and scalable operating systems.
Strengthen credit administration, portfolio monitoring, collections effectiveness, fraud controls and early-warning mechanisms.
Establish clear ownership, performance standards and review mechanisms across functions and business units.
? Strategy, Business Development & Expansion
Convert long-term business objectives into annual business plans, budgets, product priorities, target markets and measurable milestones.
Identify opportunities across loan products, customer segments, geographies,
partnerships and distribution channels.
Evaluate new initiatives based on demand, risk, unit economics, capital requirements, operational readiness and regulatory considerations.
Develop strategic partnerships and referral ecosystems while maintaining underwriting standards and brand reputation.
Track market, competitive and customer trends and provide strategic recommendations to the Board.
? Risk, Governance & Regulatory Oversight
Establish a strong culture of ethics, customer protection, transparency, accountability and regulatory discipline.
Ensure adherence to applicable RBI requirements, SEBI/stock-exchange obligations, Companies Act and internal policies.
Maintain oversight of regulatory filings, disclosures, statutory records, Board and committee processes and related-party governance.
Work closely with Compliance, Company Secretary, CFO, Risk, Internal Audit and external advisers while maintaining independence of control functions.
Oversee enterprise risks including credit, liquidity, market, operational, technology, cyber, conduct, reputation and business continuity risks.
? Financial & Stakeholder Leadership
Own the annual operating plan and oversee revenue, profitability, expenses, cash flows, portfolio performance and balance-sheet efficiency.
Provide the Board with accurate and timely reporting on performance, forecasts, funding, asset quality, risks and strategic initiatives.
Represent the organisation with shareholders, lenders, investors, regulators, auditors, rating agencies and strategic business partners.
Ensure material decisions and external communications remain aligned with Board-approved authority and governance requirements.
? Organisation & Leadership
Build and develop a strong senior leadership team with transparent accountability and performance objectives.
Establish succession planning and leadership-development priorities.
Build a culture focused on ownership, prudent risk-taking, customer focus, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Align organisation structure, workforce capability and incentives with business strategy, risk appetite and compliance expectations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a senior NBFC / lending skilled with 20 years of relevant sector experience and substantial exposure to enterprise-level decision-making.
Key requirements:
✅ 20 years of experience in the NBFC / Lending sector
✅ Significant senior leadership / enterprise management experience
✅ Strong track record in fundraising and capital management
✅ Established relationships with banks, financial institutions, investors, rating agencies and capital providers
✅ Strong understanding of lending operations and business scaling
✅ Demonstrated ability to maintain credit discipline, asset quality and control standards
✅ Strong exposure to secured lending and retail/MSME lending
✅ Experience in SME business loans, Loan Against Property and/or vehicle hire purchase/leasing will be advantageous
✅ Strong understanding of regulatory, governance, reporting and disclosure requirements applicable to an Indian listed NBFC
✅ Proven Board-level and senior stakeholder management experience
✅ Ability to build, lead and develop high-performing leadership teams
? Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution – Required
? MBA / equivalent postgraduate qualification in Finance or Operations – Preferred
Professional qualifications in Finance, Banking, Risk, Accountancy or Company Management will be an advantage.
