Job Summary

A Day in Your Life at MKS As a Chemist at MKS MSD, you will partner with Business Unit - CPP to support product development and associated activities. In this role, you will report to the RD Manager CRC (Corrosion Resistant Coating). You will carry out different approaches and methodologies to conduct RD activities related to product development, testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and process optimization under technical guidance.

You will work closely with colleagues from your own team, the team manager, the RD manager, and other cross-functional departments, both local and global. Open and clear communication with team members and the RD manager is expected. You are expected to come up with your own ideas and approaches to execute tasks and duties successfully.

When required, you will also support customers through consultation, troubleshooting, process optimization, site visits, and in office troubleshooting, while maintaining departmental and company confidentiality and compliance.

Responsibilities

You will make an impact by

- Working in the laboratory to carry out on-the-bench experiments and in the pilot line to demonstrate feasibility and develop new products.
- Creating designs of experiments (DOE) and independently planning assigned projects using project management frameworks.
- Performing and executing assigned tasks in a timely and qualitative manner.
- Developing and modifying product formulations according to business requirements while using appropriate literature, patent, competitor, supplier, and market research related to projects.
- Working and collaborating with other team members in a laboratory environment.
- Bringing an innovation mindset, own ideas, and creative strategies to make products and processes efficient.
- Interacting with cross-functional team members locally and globally.
- Being open to new ideas,



innovation, and creativity for effective and reliable process development.
- Promoting RD development, research orientation, paper and literature study, and writing.
- Supporting projects and teams with acceptable technical input and conducting literature searches for new RD projects.

Skills You Bring

Technical Skills

- Minimum 3 years of experience in industries such as chemical, electrochemical, polymer, physical, organic, inorganic, or surface treatment.
- M.Sc. educational background in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic Chemistry, inorganic
- Experience working in chemical laboratories, developing formulations and products, and conducting qualifications.
- Basic understanding of solvents, polymers,



reaction mechanisms, electrochemistry, key components, molecular interactions, and their reaction mechanisms.
- In-depth knowledge of surfactants and organic and inorganic molecules.
- Ability to tune structure-property relationships of organic and inorganic molecules.
- Synthetic knowledge of organic and inorganic molecules.
- Proficiency in project management, software, and statistical applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JMP, and Minitab.
- Experience with e-notebooks or ELN would be an added advantage.
- Data-driven mindset and experience in statistics, data interpretation, and representation: gather, visualize, interpret, and conclude.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, with a strong focus on delivering results and identifying alternative solutions when challenges arise.

- Ability to analyze data, provide logical conclusions, document findings in research reports, and present work in relevant forums to team members and scientific audiences.
- Strong oral and written communication, collaboration, and team-player skills.
