Company Description Asthagiri Herbal Research Foundation (AHRF) is a DSIR-recognized, NABL-accredited research society affiliated with the University of Madras, specializing in plant chemistry and product innovation since 2000. The organization focuses on analyzing herbal and Ayurvedic ingredients, correlating their chemistry with therapeutic and functional benefits, and converting this knowledge into practical products. AHRF’s work spans herbal product certification, contract research in phytochemistry and formulation, analytical testing, and product development in areas such as botanical fungicides, bio-pesticides, growth enhancers, and functional foods.

The foundation also supports technology transfer and scale-up for herbal industry partners, and serves as a multidisciplinary hub in analytical chemistry, biotechnology, and synthetic chemistry for researchers, students, and industry collaborators in the herbal science space.

Role Description The Chemist role at Asthagiri Herbal Research Foundation is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Chemist is responsible for conducting laboratory experiments related to plant chemistry, herbal formulations, and analytical testing, following established protocols and safety standards. Day-to-day activities include preparing samples, operating analytical instruments, recording and interpreting data, and supporting quality control processes for herbal and Ayurvedic products.

The role involves contributing to research and development projects,



assisting in method development and validation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support product innovation and standardization. The Chemist also helps in maintaining laboratory documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, and supporting technology transfer activities when needed.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Laboratory Skills, including sample preparation, handling of chemicals and herbal materials, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills, with experience in instrument operation (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectrophotometry) and data interpretation.
- Candidates should possess experience in Quality Control, including testing, documentation, and compliance with established standards and protocols.
- Candidates should possess competencies in Research and Development (R&D;) and Research, including experimental design, literature review, and reporting of findings.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work accurately and systematically, with solid attention to detail and good record-keeping practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in herbal, phytochemical, or pharmaceutical research environments is an advantage.
