GEL is developing a greenfield Integrated Steel Plant at Bhadrawati, Chandrapur, Maharashtra, comprising a Gas-Based DRI Plant, Pellet Plant, Coal Gasification Plant, Steel Melt Shop, and Rolling Mill.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Business Analyst – Green Energy & Decarbonization to support the development and evaluation of new business opportunities across Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Renewable Energy, Decarbonization and related green energy projects.

The role will be responsible for scope development, business case preparation, financial modelling, proposal evaluation, project planning and cross-functional coordination from concept through project development.

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Engineering

- Develop scope documents, concept notes, project requirements and technical-commercial evaluation frameworks for new projects.
- Contribute to Process Design Packages (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed engineering deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Coordinate with Consultants and third-party vendors for design development, quality assurance, commissioning and operations
- Prepare and maintain financial models,



project economics, CAPEX/OPEX estimates, ROI and sensitivity analysis to assess project viability.
- Evaluate technical and commercial proposals from technology providers, consultants, EPC partners and other vendors.

Project Execution

- Support CGP & CCU project development from concept through commissioning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation).
- Provide technical input during procurement and vendor evaluation, quality management, commissioning & operations.

Commissioning & Operations

- Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Troubleshoot process issues and optimize plant performance.
- Provide operational support and training to plant teams.

Documentation & Compliance

- Prepare technical reports, design notes, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

5–10 years of experience in petroleum, petrochemical, or chemical industry projects.

Proven expertise in:

- P&IDs;, material balance, process datasheets
- PDP, FEED, and engineering development
- Strong knowledge of process safety, HAZOP, and risk assessment.
- Exposure to commissioning and operations is highly desirable.

Desired Skills:

- Experience in carbon capture, utilization, or related clean energy projects.
- Familiarity with simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, etc.).
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.

Location

Project-based role; flexibility to work at site and Nagpur office as required
