Job in Brief The Buyer is responsible for selecting the category of fashion apparels, toys and gaming, new born essential. To managing the vendors ensuring smooth stock flow, and supporting overall category profitability. The role works closely with the Retail Stores and the Merchandising team to make sure customers get the fashionable and trending products.

Roles & Responsibilities

Buying

- The buyer has to visit the market places and source the new trending and fashionable products based on the requirement of the stores.
- Understand customer needs and choose the right products.

- Stay updated on fashion trends and consumer buying behaviour.
- Select products based on the brand positioning of the store.
- Manage buying budgets as per Open-to-Buy (OTB).
- Maintain a balanced assortment of core, seasonal, and new products.

Vendor Management

- Source and onboard new suppliers/brands.
- Negotiate prices, margins, credit terms, and promotions.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships.

- Track vendor performance, fill rates, and deliveries.
- Resolve quality or supply issues quickly.

Stock Management

- Monitor stock levels, sell-through, and margins.

- Work with Merchandiser on replenishment and stock movement.
- Review slow-moving and fast-selling products to guide buying.
- Maintain healthy stock availability and reduce excess or markdowns.

________________________________________ Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Store Managers to understand customer feedback and store needs.
- Coordinate with Merchandising for planograms and assortment planning.
- Support Marketing with promotions and product launches.
- Align with Finance on budgets, margins, and OTB.




- Work with Supply Chain/Logistics for timely stock delivery and forecasting.
- Coordinate with Store/Quality teams for product issues or returns.
- Work with Visual Merchandising to execute product stories and seasonal themes.

- Review item-wise sales, vendor performance, gross margin, and sell-through reports.
- Analyze weekly/monthly sales by store and category.
- Share insights on customer buying patterns and market trends.

________________________________________ Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all vendor contracts, product details, and safety/compliance documents are updated.
- Follow procurement processes and ethical sourcing guidelines.

Requirements

- Graduate / Diploma in a relevant field.
- 8 + years of retail buying or procurement experience.
- Strong vendor negotiation and relationship skills.
- Good balance of trend awareness and financial planning.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; retail ERP knowledge is a plus.
- Strong coordination and leadership ability.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and readiness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Location: Hybrid – must be open to periodic visits to Nagercoil as required.
