Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Business Analyst with strong expertise across the Cisco networking ecosystem, Thousandeyes, Splunk, and Microsoft Defender. This role bridges business and technical stakeholders — combining deep, hands-on platform expertise with business analysis skills to design, implement, integrate, and optimize network performance and security observability solutions, while translating raw operational and security data into actionable business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expertise & Platform Ownership

- Serve as the go-to SME for Cisco networking technologies, ThousandEyes synthetic/real-user monitoring, the Splunk data platform, and the Microsoft Defender suite (Defender for Endpoint, Cloud, and/or Identity).
- Design, implement, and support Cisco ThousandEyes for end-to-end network and application visibility.
- Configure, administer, and optimize Splunk for log management, monitoring, dashboards, and security analytics.
- Implement and manage Microsoft Defender solutions for threat detection, investigation, and response.

Business Analysis & Requirements

- Gather, document, and translate business and technical requirements from stakeholders (network operations, security, and IT leadership) into functional specifications.
- Define and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and mapping documents across ThousandEyes, Splunk, and Defender data sources.

Data Mapping & Integration





- Design and validate data mapping schemas that correlate ThousandEyes (network/application performance), Splunk (log/event data), and Microsoft Defender (endpoint/cloud security signals) into a unified data model.
- Integrate Cisco, ThousandEyes, Splunk, Microsoft Defender, and other enterprise applications using APIs, connectors, forwarders, and automation.

Insights, Reporting & Troubleshooting

- Develop dashboards, reports, and KPIs in Splunk (and other BI tools) that combine network performance (ThousandEyes) with security posture (Defender) data.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and correlations across network and security datasets to support proactive incident detection and root cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, and integration issues, performing root cause analysis.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, SME, or technical analyst role within network operations, security operations, or IT infrastructure domains.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, SD-WAN, or related Cisco platforms) and Cisco security technologies.
- Solid working knowledge of ThousandEyes — synthetic monitoring, path visualization, endpoint agents, and API-based data extraction.
- Hands-on proficiency in Splunk — SPL query writing, administration, dashboard/report creation, data onboarding, and field extraction/mapping.
- Experience with the Microsoft Defender suite (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, and/or Defender for Identity/XDR), including alert/event data structures.
